Re: good driver ftw
good that you stopped in time. Wet roads i'm extra cautious of.... no abs of course, but it's the inconsistency of the grip on the roads. When the rain has just started the oil in the road comes to the surface which makes it really slippery, but when there has been consistent rain the grip tends to ...

Re: programming
you want a programming challenge? fix everything that was wrong with vista and sell it as your own, private OS. But then Micro$oft would sue his pants off for reselling Windows 3.1 . Fixed. no sorry you broke it. windows 3.1 sucked. windows 7 is the best windows. also linux fanboys, the only reason...

Re: Post your desktop!
I hate laptop displays so at some point i'm going to pick up a 24" HP monitor (lp2475w if you're interested) I mostly use my laptop for web browsing (chrome), writing up lab reports (word+excel) and cad (solidworks) so the screen isn't big enough.... pixel density of 1366x768 on a 16" is a...

Re: Am I upshifting correctly?
Here's the inside truth, Honda knows stock clutches can't hold VTEC for long.
The difference between this guy:
and you is that he has a stage 3 racing clutch, yes it will make that much of an inprovement!

Re: Tools To Start Working On Cars?
Oil filter wrenches are a waste of money. Vice grips that open wide enough are a better option since theyll actually get a grip on the damn thing and can be positioned better. I'm going to say if you can't take the oil filter off by hand you put it on to tightly, oil filter wrenches are for women t...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
I've decided that i'm going to get a mazda as my next car, the 2 rides too freaking hard on the crap nz road and has no room for storage. so its either a "mazda" probe, 626 hatch or a mx6.... Whatever i get tho is going to get a 200hp klze swapped in if it doesn't have one... mx6 has them ...

Re: My first serious crash
If you can't handle a single crash how can you expect to be within that 5%? But seriously though how many of the top drivers would be racing now if they had let a single crash stop them? None. So if you want to be in that 5% don't give up because of a single crash, learn from it. All these others ka...

Re: Slipping clutch while giving throttle
The cow is on my wavelength. I would be so pleased if I could keep all my gears exactly the way they are now, but add one a 6th gear to make me turn 1200 rpm at 65 mph. I would get otherworldly gas mileage on the highway. yet again another fool that thinks fuel mileage is only a function of rpm, bu...

Re: driving from a slow speed
if i was coming up to a stop light at 2mph and it turned green i'd just slip the clutch for a sec to get the revs in second up over a 1k rpm and then accelerate away. OR you could floor the clutch, floor the gas and drop the clutch when revs are near redline. <- just make sure there are no cops, and...

Does it really matter? In the big picture.... no. We will be old and rambling on about how we used to drive cars, with a shifter and a clutchgizmo wrote:Are the days of DCHTs really seeing their end?

grip limited fwd. rwd is better.watkins wrote:Torque limited 1st. Second is better.konaforever wrote:Flooring it in first gives the greatest acceleration than flooring it in any other gear, simply because the gearing is the highest. Some people probably are scared to floor it for that reason.
