Re: Cartridge Oil Filter--Fram 20K vs. K&N

This mechanic is full of baloney. I was naming off smaller cars we might consider for my daughter and every time I named one, he replied, "Throwaway Car." One day, we got to discussing manual transmission ratios and he insisted that all manual transmissions have the 1:1 ratio in 3rd gear ...

Re: Slaves

You know what sucks? JK Wrangler clutch fork squeak. Concentric slaves save space and apply a more even pressure. They are, from a technical standpoint, the superior design. Considering a slave cylinder isn't really a regular fail point, service simplicity definitely takes a back seat. The only real...

Re: Everything you NEVER Wanted to Know About Stop/Start

guess eye should be glad my car didn't come with this feature. they introduced it for the next generation, to much upsettal. you could defeat it, but you had to turn it off every time you started the car. Are consumers just sheep? Take whatever crap the auto companies throw at them? If only consume...

Re: Everything you NEVER Wanted to Know About Stop/Start

In a vehicle with a quality stop/start system you hardly even notice it. Our JL is incredibly smooth because of the BSG (belt start generator), a 48 volt alternator/motor unit that takes over for the regular starter during stop/start operation. It also allows the vehicle to start moving a fraction o...

You know what's f*cking cool?

Tenth wedding anniversary parties that go off without a hitch. Those are cool.

If only the photographer could appease my impatient ass and get us our pictures already.

Rain sensor. Lazy lazy people. OR they are too busy with a soda in one hand, and a vape in the other, while reading the newspaper and shaving in the morning commute. Good rain sensing wipers are great! Just set and forget. They adjust speed perfectly for those weird days when the rain can't figure ...

Re: So I got two new tires for the Mazda 5 today

So you're saying that a broken and undermaintained car doesn't operate at peak performance? What a surprise! No, it's not about peak performance. It may even be capable a a quicker lap time on a certain race course. It's about changing how the handling is balanced. Maybe it was predominantly unders...

Re: How Many Speeds?

My driving is a bit of everything. I commute in semi-regular stop and go traffic, I drive from MA to PA often enough. Sometimes I just drive half an hour or more of pure empty highway to see friends. I tow excessively heavy loads for a little wagon. I want six gears. My current five doesn't cut it....

The 4XE tech is really cool stuff. I'm surprised to see Jeep going in this direction too, if only in concept form.
