Re: Launching/Rev matching when you can't hear the revs

The US-market Volkswagen GTI comes with a "noise pipe" that brings engine noise from the turbo into the glovebox. Perhaps you could create something similar that brings engine noise into the passenger compartment acoustically, instead of trying to do it high-tech into the electronic audio...

Re: Launching/Rev matching when you can't hear the revs

How about you stop driving near busses and trailer trucks? That always could be a solution. :P In China? Ha ha ha. Why not convince them to keep away from me! . Performance exhaust! Welcome to SS  Thought someone will mention exhausts :) Thanks for the welcome! :) Peugeots are loud enoug...

Re: Launching/Rev matching when you can't hear the revs

All: Thanks for the suggestions/advise :D mmm... I guess to 'force' adapt to dealing with down shifts in noisy environments, I've got to drive with loud music or ear plugs for a while... This might make me consult the Tacho more often and look for other indicative elements/develop other...

Re: Launching/Rev matching when you can't hear the revs

I would not want to drive at a speed (and location) where I couldn't glance at my tach, glance at my mirrors, sneeze, or blink without crashing into something. Around here you'd get thrown in jail for reckless driving if you were driving fast enough for that to be an issue. How do you survive? Prev...

Re: Launching/Rev matching when you can't hear the revs

You don't refuse to take a leak if you can't hear your piss splashing the toilet water, do you? best analogy ever LoL :D that reminds me of a joke: Two Mexicans are laying side by side, having an afternoon siesta with their sombreros (hats) covering their faces. Mexican A: "He, amigo, could yo...

Re: Launching/Rev matching when you can't hear the revs

I guess I could use car movement as a guide at launching, and opt for clutch based launches (release to friction point before adding gas), but can't see how to do that while rev-matching at down shifts. Why would you need to launch while downshifting? that , above, refers to 'using car movement', n...

Launching/Rev matching when you can't hear the revs

Hi folks, It's been a few months since I started reading with much passion the topics in here :D Here's a subject that leaves me stunned, when ever I have to deal with it: I'd be at a red light next to a truck or a bus. Light goes green & time to launch. Due to the rev 'noise' of the truck/bus, ...
