Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Yes, people really DO buy FWD versions of SUVs. Some of the sales are in southern markets - remember Atlanta GA before the ice storm? As you can imagine, the RWD or FWD version of an SUV is usually the model advertised at those low lease payments / purchase prices. This is another reason that Amish...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I'm a bit late to this party, but having driven an Edge with the 2.0turbo found in the Escape, Fusion, Focus ST (and in a very limited number of older current generation Explorers and Flexes) I was surprised that it could get out its own way as well as it did. My friend, who owns said Edge has repo...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

oh, now i see what you were talking about. cr-v finally has a 2nd engine (albeit not really much better than the base engine unless tuned, plus all but the LX models get the turbo engine). Rav-4 used to have a V6 option but now just the 2.5 litre 4 (and the hybrid). probably wanted to keep costs do...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

not sure which cars you're referring to. if the new cr-v, they put the turbo 1.5 litre 4 in it. i am not sure how much torque they expect to get out of that engine. probably used it mainly to get good MPG scores. something like a 1.8 turbo (like mine  ) probably would've been more suitable...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

There isn't some efficient way to crack water that's just waiting to be discovered. Cracking water is the equal and opposite reaction of burning hydrogen; it requires the same energy that is released by burning because it is unburning. Burning uncracks it, producing water again. (Of course 100% eff...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

SUV's/trucks have definitely dented the market but honestly cheap gas isn't going to last forever... that's when we'll see what true colors are shown again. Never say Never, but fracking has changed the world of oil. Whenever the price of crude oil goes high enough, there are alternative sources fo...

Big Sedans Going the Way of the Dinosaurs? Get 'em while you still can! Oh, and Mid-Size Sedans aren't selling so well either. http://www.autonews.com/article/20170724/OEM03/170729905/gm-chevrolet-impala-sedan These numbers are really bad. The one's that I actually seem quite commonly in my area I ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Not Amish, but still Buicking the Latest Trends... "Just last week, Honda announced the Accord will ditch its optional V6 and move to a four-cylinder-only engine lineup, two of them turbocharged, a third attached to a hybrid powertrain. With the 2018 Regal GS, Buick decided to head in the other dir...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Accord reveal: need to see in person to really know how I feel about the looks, but the bifurcated taillights are gross. It's sad that the coupe is dead as that's been the best looking of the bunch for years. I'm curious about how much the 2.0t will start pricewise since the 1.5t sounds like it'll ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

How do you feel about the different aspect ratio coming from the S7? To me, it took some getting used to since the S8's screen is narrower but taller. In all honesty, this different aspect ratio is where Samsung is going these days, but when I pick up by work S7, I like the wider screen better stil...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I ended up going with the Samsung S8. Took my chances and continued the tradition now of 3 generations. I really didn't dislike my last phone either which was the worst part of it bricking. I really have thoroughly enjoyed my last two galaxy phones. I feel like the jumps even from gen-to-gen have ha...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

anymore Did they try some other arrangement for a while? What you described was exactly the way it was from the late 1990s through 2007 when I switched to Sprint, and as of that time all the major carriers (including Sprint) were still operating the same way. For some years now I've been out of tha...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

if it's being leased, don't they automatically cover it?? At least that's how it works with the iPhones. If not, I'd buy a used phone before wasting hundreds to repair that one. Leased is a bit incorrect in terminology but in essence it's what actually happens. You don't have to pay for phones up f...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Phone insurance is hit or miss. I drowned an S6 (they weren't waterproof) about a year and a half ago. Two replacements late through insurance, and the phones were never right. One had visibly wavy screen and mic was funky. The latest one clearly had the screen replaced and it wasn't sealed well. I...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

what phone was it?? Which carrier you on now?? I have had mostly good luck buying used phones on eBay. There are other sites dedicated to used phone sales but I forget any of them off hand and don't recall ever buying through one. Galaxy S7 Edge / Verizon. I don't even have experience bricking my p...
