Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

The only issue nowadays is that there's no real option for a 4WD pickup with a manual. Even the Tacoma is quite scarce. My drive home from work is through hilly terrain. Not only that but I've gotten stuck in snow storms with my SO, friends and family. I'd hate to put them in a dangerous situation f...

Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

I was planning on making chains plan A mostly for just Snow storms. Even if its just to get me from the hilly backroads to the highway. You don't need chains when its 20 degrees and dry outside. Rangers were only available with 4wd for a few years in the later 90s. IIRC. Tacoma is really the only op...

Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

According to AAA CONNECTICUT Tire chain usage is permitted for hazardous weather or other related incidents only, but may not damage the highway surface. Tire chains are only permitted between November 15 and April 30. So I should be safe there. Bummer to hear how lousy it would do in the snow. I kn...

How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

I kind of like the Nissan Frontier. At least the idea of it. You can still get it with a stick and a 4 cylinder so the gas mileage wouldn't be as embarassing. Plus you can use the bed. Anyways, a buddy of mine had a Ranger 2wd with a stick and he always had issues when it rained. He'd fish tail etc....

Re: Project Christine slo Hackensteinberg

A lot of people remove the air suspension from crown vics and such. Would be a good luxury to have when it works...but would hate to diag/repair it when it doesn't.

Re: RANT: I have been looking for cars for too long and now I'm sick of all of them.

I would take a 100k+ Honda Accord at a "premium" versus a base/middle trim Focus 10 times out of 10. There's a reason why Honda/Toyota doesn't depreciate in value and hold resale values... there is a reason why American cars don't. I've lived it first hand There are multiple reasons. One is that so...

Re: RANT: I have been looking for cars for too long and now I'm sick of all of them.

Are you comparing apples to apples here? Sounds like you're comparing numbers for cars that aren't in the same class and aren't priced equally when new. Probably not lol. Then again, the Focus was approx 20-22k. I get they're different...but still. Also, good luck negotiating that down. I should tr...

Re: RANT: I have been looking for cars for too long and now I'm sick of all of them.

Here click me is an example of the insanity. 13k for a car that has 100k miles on it. It's almost beater status to most people at that point. It isn't just with Hondas...American cars do it as well. I hhate when dealers can't put the transmissions into the correct category Click me Wow, I know click...

Re: RANT: I have been looking for cars for too long and now I'm sick of all of them.

I feel the ultimate daily is a car you don't care about. Not quite. If you don't care about it then you won't fix the little stuff that inevitably breaks. Then one day you realize you absolutely hate that uncomfortable unpleasant piece of crap that now additionally has every damn thing broken, and ...

Re: RANT: I have been looking for cars for too long and now I'm sick of all of them.

The annoying thing about my car is that someone vandalized it...and I Don't really want to sue my own insurance over it. So everyday I've gotta look at it. Every time I bring it to a body shop, they quote me 800 or so bucks to get it done. I remember on CL a long time ago I saw this Camry with the v...

RANT: I have been looking for cars for too long and now I'm sick of all of them.

So I'm burned out looking at cars. I've actually started looking at automatics. A freaking Land Rover and a Lexus were the latest on my list. The 250 with a stick keeps coming up though. How does one get by that new car fear? The other week I was going to look at a brand new Tacoma. I then clipped m...

What about Motor mounts? Is the shifter connected via cable or rod?

Re: Clutch Smell???

When you breathe in, your lungs burn. Think about walking around in your favorite congested city, New York City for this example. You walk around and you breathe in but you get scratchiness on the way down. That's brake stink. You slam on the brake and ride the brakes down a long hill...thats burnin...

Re: bk7794s 2000 Honda Civic

Welp! My car was vandalized. On Halloween. A massive dent about 10 inches wide on my rear quarter panel.

Car is driveable...just looks like crap now. Huge bummer. Paint is still in good condition and there is no rust.
