Re: Are used cars really cheaper in Europe?

I've wondered what their emissions/safety inspection is like. Still though, some of those cars look brand new. I wish we'd be able to import those. Get rid of these Nissan Versas and other pathetically boring alternatives. Hyundai. Though isn't there that 25 year old rule? I'd love to get a Focus an...

Are used cars really cheaper in Europe?

I've been looking through some English Craigslist ads and I've been seeing something that's pretty surprising. Cars in the mid 2000s going from anywhere between 800-3000 usd after conversions. The mileage on them, while most of them probably close to city miles, are around 100-200k miles. It's weird...

Re: Has anyone thought about buying an Automatic?

Yes, and did. My previous statement still stands. Transmission will never be my main deciding factor unless it's CVT. There's enough about Boaty that entertains the snot out of me that the tranny doesn't factor. It's my first Chrysler so time will tell if it's a good call. I hear the online crowd j...

Re: In what world does this make sense?

There's no more cost at this stage of the game. They had the manual since the facelift in 2012. It's just marketing. If you want the hatch you're stuck with the ST and the RS.

In what world does this make sense?

So Ford seems to not offer the Focus with a manual transmission anymore. Not only that, but all their "Non sport" options like the 1.0L Ecoboost motor is only available on the sedan.

I don't get it...

Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

So Basically what I'm hearing is that the consensus is 4WD will not help in the snow. Go with Chains/weight/snowtires. For something like that and the mileage, I think I'd rather start out cheap. Maybe I'll find a cheap diesel pickup. 7.3/Cummins. I don't mind basic/intermediate maintenance. Even mo...

Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

The only issue nowadays is that there's no real option for a 4WD pickup with a manual. Even the Tacoma is quite scarce. My drive home from work is through hilly terrain. Not only that but I've gotten stuck in snow storms with my SO, friends and family. I'd hate to put them in a dangerous situation f...

Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

I was planning on making chains plan A mostly for just Snow storms. Even if its just to get me from the hilly backroads to the highway. You don't need chains when its 20 degrees and dry outside. Rangers were only available with 4wd for a few years in the later 90s. IIRC. Tacoma is really the only op...

Re: How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

According to AAA CONNECTICUT Tire chain usage is permitted for hazardous weather or other related incidents only, but may not damage the highway surface. Tire chains are only permitted between November 15 and April 30. So I should be safe there. Bummer to hear how lousy it would do in the snow. I kn...

How bad would a 2WD pickup be in the snow?

I kind of like the Nissan Frontier. At least the idea of it. You can still get it with a stick and a 4 cylinder so the gas mileage wouldn't be as embarassing. Plus you can use the bed. Anyways, a buddy of mine had a Ranger 2wd with a stick and he always had issues when it rained. He'd fish tail etc....
