Re: Slow highway merging

One of those decreasing radius ramps caught me off guard one day while it was damp. I hadn't really taken that on-ramp many times so I wasn't too familiar with it but I went in too hot, lifted and began to brake, and then my car swapped ends. Luckily there was no one else on the ramp and I didn't hi...

Re: Slow highway merging

A good merger is one that can merge without affecting the traffic around him, whether by making them slow down or speed up. I'm usually going faster than freeway traffic by the time I'm nearing the end of a ramp. Texas ramps are like launch pads, compared to some narrow, tight and short turning ram...

Do you have a car that runs? If so, do it! It's fairly cheap if you don't go crazy with it.

Now that I re-read my post, I can kind of see how that would seem. But they're gray in the first picture I put up with them on the last page.

Nope, gunmetal wheel spray paint on the 5-spoke daily wheels.

Looks awesome, and I disagree with 4OTF, it needs more high and more mudflaps

Re: Cosmin's 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Today I went and got some tires and wheels for autocross. Super old and worn Falken Azenis RT-615s mounted onto E30 BBS RZ wheels. Tires are 195/60/14 and wheels are 14x6.5 with a +30 offset. They look damn meaty on the car, I dig them. Came with 15 spline drive lug nuts (missing one) and 2 BBS cent...

Re: How often do you drive just for pleasure?

Well Tonebone, you're a madman. I wish I could be that resistant to heat but I suppose I'm a delicate flower with a pansy ass car. Although I love taking drives, it really bums me out that there are no actual nice/scenic/fun roads around here. It's really crappy when all of your driv...

Re: How often do you drive just for pleasure?

Chicago is easily doable in a car with no a/c. I rarely ever used a/c in any of the vehicles I've owned when I lived in Chicago. Texas, however, is not doable w/o a/c. No way. I also do my pleasure driving at night or mid evening. Less traffic and cooler out. I also don't drive at night on regular ...

Re: How often do you drive just for pleasure?

At least once or twice a week. If it's a nice day/night out and I'm at home with nothing to do, I'll hop in the Miata and go for a spin. Usually this is more at night time since day time traffic here is god-awful and Chicago summers are unpleasant in a car with "functional" at best A/C. I just love ...

Re: Do you drive with car seat farther back or more forward?

I sort of agree with Shadow, this poll is hard to vote for. I sit where I'm comfortable for whatever driving I have to do. I have a CG-lock on my seatbelt though, and there is something interesting about it. I noticed that during day-to-day driving, I have the CG-lock set to be tighter than a regula...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Are we still talking about speed? I got my Miata up to 125 (speedo indicated) very early one Saturday morning on a nice empty highway to drive a CTS-V on a racetrack. Braking from that speed made the steering wheel shudder a fair bit, but all was well. The funny thing? I only got the CTS-V up to 115...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

It was really awesome! I think if I had read that paragraph a year or two ago when I desperately wanted a Miata I would have fainted. I've been doing everything I wanted to do with it, other than drive it on really nice roads (there are none here  )
