I specifically ordered my SS with the full-size spare for this exact reason. Now I drive around with peace-of-mind of not having a donut spare in case of an emergency, but a fifth wheel-and-tire-combo complete replacement to use at any time. Good choice. I assume you have some nice rims...when you'...

Re: So I've been thinking of getting another car...again

That 250HP figure is very conservative. It gets close to 250 to the wheels. Crown Vics move, make no doubt about it. For their size, they're quick. Trust me.

I think rallly cars have dog-teeth transmissions. No need to use the clutch, just jam the stick to the next gear.

Re: Manual Returns to 911 GT3

Some claim that the PDK can shift in less than 200 milliseconds. That's 0.2 seconds. While anything's possible, in all honesty, it probably takes me longer than 200 millseconds just to move my left foot over to the clutch pedal, let alone depressing it, shifting to the next gear, and releasing it, i...

Re: 8 years driving a manual and now this...

...despite close to 200 miles of manual experience under my belt... You're missing quite a few zeros there :) On the topic's note, I am having an opposite problem. After almost a decade of driving rev-happy 4 and 6 cylinder Japanese cars, this ginormous V8 beast has a gas pedal that is not quite as...

It varies by state, but I've never heard of anyone letting the owner do the testing. Just go to a different guy next time. :)

Well, if it was, then there's no truer testament to the longevity of these old Toyotas... I've never checked the oil the entire time I had it, and I'm pretty sure my friend does the same!

Re: mtheis's 1995 Toyota Tercel

Congrats on the new (to you) car =) And the Tercel lives on to serve another loyal driver.

One of the first cars I drove is a 1993 Toyota Corolla. Still runs strong to this day, my friend now has it lol 8) The headliner is coming apart, the paint is half gone, but boy does it still keep on tickin.

Re: What do you look for in a car?

My criteria were very succinct, and somewhat superficial. Performance is a given, considering. - 4 doors - 3 pedals - V8 - RWD - Less important: comfort, luxury Of which only 3 possible choices exist: the previous-gen CTS-V, the Chevrolet SS, and the BMW M5. Hence my current car... Very rarely does ...
