It creaks with the engine off, with the engine on, I don't really hear much. Where the creak happens with the engine off does coincide where the clutch pedal feels gritty though (both engine on and off).
Thanks.
I have yet to try the pedal with the engine off. Will hopefully get to it.

Creaky/gritty clutch pedal feel during the first half of travel
Oh hey there, It's me with the newb questions again. I have recently noticed, since switching my clutching foot technique from pivoting at the heel to moving the entire leg, that the first half of my clutch's travel (from floor up) does not feel super smooth. Meaning, I almost feel some grittiness i...

Re: How do you guys avoid pissing people behind you off when shifting?
Mmmm. It seems like a lot of you are saying that I should try and get a head start on everyone by being more alert than everyone else. TBH, I have been doing this. I always fear people running the light T-Boning me though.

Re: How do you guys avoid pissing people behind you off when shifting?
Thanks, everyone! I think part of the problem is also that I take a solid 2 seconds to do the see-saw in 1st when launching. If I am the first one at a light, is it worth it to rev the engine up to just underneath 2k for a quick start? Usually, I see-saw at near idle, which increases the chance of s...

How do you guys avoid pissing people behind you off when shifting?
HI all, When starting at a light with someone behind me, I piss off the guy/girl behind me half the time because I have to wait a solid 1 to 2 seconds before the engine rev would drop in between 1st gear and 2nd gear shift. Most modern US drivers don't seem to be expecting people to stop acceleratin...

Re: Reversed through flood water in a pinch. Any cause for concern?
Thanks, everyone!
The car has been running fine for a week and none of the electronics (these are relatively few in this cheapest car in America) seem to be acting funny.
Again, thanks for your help!

Reversed through flood water in a pinch. Any cause for concern?
Hi all. It's 12:30AM in Indiana. Was lucky to be awake when the flood alert came through. Went to hotel parking lot, found that the water was at most 3 inches below the exhaust pipe of my Versa. I acted in the moment. Started my car, and reversed my car all the way up the parking lot until I was awa...

Re: Gear 2 harder to shift into than higher gears... What am I doing wrong?
I am still in college and am just trying to the have the most fun we can with the band. We are doing well but yeah... the music industry is tough at best. Pretty much straight up impossible for most people. BTW, Cow, I think I found the source of the crackle because it happened again today: I did no...

Re: Gear 2 harder to shift into than higher gears... What am I doing wrong?
Haha. Thanks for the enthusiasm fellas. One of the reasons why I opted for the Silverburst is because all the other cool kids had sunbursts and I wanted to be a little different. I bet a lot of people on this forum are into guitars. I kinda feel like being enthusiastic about cars is very similar in ...

How to have driving fun responsibly/safely w/o getting onto a track
Hi al, What's gonna be the safest way to have fun driving stick w/o getting on the race track? A nice scene country backroad? I drove along Illinois 100 along that Mississippi once and it was glorious. It's a little boring though if it's just straight and just requires me to stay in top gear. I want...

Re: Gear 2 harder to shift into than higher gears... What am I doing wrong?
Mmm. They crackling sound crackled for a couple of seconds and was very faint. You are right, it was probably sticks that I ran over. I guess I thought I wasn't moving, but it's also possible that I was moving ever so slightly. I am going to stop thinking about it unless it happens again. Haha. You ...

Re: Gear 2 harder to shift into than higher gears... What am I doing wrong?
Alright guys. Sorry for another question. I am the type to get paranoid about things when a new toy is acquired. Whilst backing up on a small incline today, I heard a crackling noise from somewhere under the car with the clutch not fully engaged. I have not been able to reproduce the noise by trying...

Re: Gear 2 harder to shift into than higher gears... What am I doing wrong?
I don't know the Versa, but in most cars I like to barely get rolling in 1st then execute a very easy lightning-fast shift to 2nd. There's very little interruption in acceleration, and I can then floor it if necessary for better acceleration without any craziness since I've entered 2nd around idle ...

Re: Gear 2 harder to shift into than higher gears... What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, you two. I have adopted the "shift at 2k, let 2nd gear come in at around idle" technique. When I remember to not rev 1st gear out of 2k, this seems to work quite well. I think I have been having a little bit too much fun. Nissan advises owners to not floor the throttle or go beyond...

Gear 2 harder to shift into than higher gears... What am I doing wrong?
Hi all, From reading some responses on this forum, I realize that shifting from 1st to 2nd, compared with 2nd to 3rd or even higher shifts, is always going to be trickier to get right due to a more drastic difference in gear ratio (hopefully I am understanding correctly). Currently, I launch my car ...
