Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Well, I'm a month deep now at my new job and I have to say the transition has been beautiful... hindsight being 20/20 but I wish I made the leap of faith earlier. Still have ties to my old team and a lot of my colleagues say people have jumped ship and have been overall miserable. This year already ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Rob, I'm guessing it's more to do with his bride being unable to and uncomfortable learning to drive a manual. An auto just makes it easier to switch off. Correct- I no longer have the luxury of relying on my parents or in law's parents to borrow cars if something unreliable did surface. That is pa...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The lack of an armrest isn't a weird deal breaker. You want what you want and don't need to justify it. I personally would consider a CX-3, but for the fact that there's no real armrest (the ones that flip down don't count in my book). The again I'm single and have no desire to change that any time...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Personal suggestion. Unless you don't value your hearing, avoid the Fit. Unless it's changed that thing is loud, buzzy, and spins entirely too fast on the freeway. If I recall from my rental it was running right around 3500 RPM at 70 mph. It's also pretty tinny. Of the other vehicles you mentioned,...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I have to say, after over 90k combined miles, I'm pretty much over the turbocharged motor deal for a DD vehicle. It's just...not worth it to me as a consumer. It's more complex, it's less reliable (in my experience) and while it wasn't costly out of pocket for me, I think it certainly has a high po...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I'm confused, Team, are you currently driving an Accord as a rental? The post makes it sound like you have some first hand knowledge about what's what. WRT the tank size. If it's anything like the 2 Accords I've had there's a 17 gallon tank in there. In my 03 I waited until the light came on and th...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Not sure what you’re saying at the end about the accord and 3 pedals, but I personally think the new accord is a hard car to beat if you don’t need/want AWD. Looks grow on me, and interior is heading toward luxury levels. There are some cost cuts if you look like certain trim, the rear seat door ma...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Drove a WRX yesterday. Had the touchscreen and the kit that I would want, but as Teamwork said the interior is from a $15k car, and not a nearly $30k car. I get that the drivetrain is the expensive part, ut how do other vehicles with similar options (albeit without a manual) manage to have a nicer ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The one I looked at was $28k and by the time I'm ready do really look there should be a new generation. Still open to options given the considerations I've placed upon what I want. The money doesn't work for me right now in any case. This timeline also gives Mazda a chance to officially release the...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Starting to vaguely consider a WRX even if I don't necessarily need the power. Going to see what the wonk says and see what's what. If the only real compromise is more power, then I'll deal it. Finances aren't positioned correctly right now. Will continue thinking on't. I would probably pass on tha...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Do tell about some of the issues with the Bu. I've heard there are pretty common issues with the head gaskets failing, but other than that I've not heard much. Truth be told I never was very in the know about Subaru other than that they're one of the only mainstream brands where every model save th...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Thanks for the input on the Subaru. I'm going to see how I like it. The short drive I took in one a few years ago wasn't terrible, but that was a two mile loop on a freeway. Nothing much to find out there. At this point compiling the list of potential options is the difficult part as most manufactu...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I liked the 300, mostly. The seats were a bit uncomfortable for me though even with the adjustable lumbar support. Resale on this is indeed garbage, so you could get one cheapish. Mileage is respectable out of the 3.6, I guess; once managed 27 out of it. UConnect was nice when it worked. Usually co...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

OH NOES!! YOU SAID THE H WORD!!!! My sister’s ‘18 Accord Hybrid EX-L is awfully nice. Doesn’t really feel like a hybrid to me. It's pretty crazy how good the fuel economy of the mid sizes from Toyota / Honda are at this point in hybrid format-- not so different then the smaller class cars. If you c...
