Re: Burnt clutch smell
Yeah cow I think you're right. I just drove it and everything seems fine. No smell or anything and it drives normal

Re: Burnt clutch smell
Yes he is, and he kept passing it off like he did nothing wrong. He drives a 370z so he thinks he's the man when it comes to driving standard

Re: Burnt clutch smell
Inline Paul I'm glad to hear that. Oh man I think I'd cry if I was in your shoes. It didn't smell like metal I tell you that much. I haven't driven it since then(kinda scared to)

Re: Burnt clutch smell
Yeah, he's not driving it again. Will what he did affect my clutch tremendously? When I'm driving I don't slip the clutch unless taking off which is minimal.

Burnt clutch smell
Hey guys, I have a 2017 Ford Focus RS with 2100 miles. Last night while coming home my brother was driving my car. I told him don't drive stupid when we left the place we were at. Well I guess he didn't hear me(sarcasm) because 25 minutes later he takes off like a jackass from a red light and gets u...

Re: When to blip throttle on downshift?
Hi, been having my car about a year and am still crappy with down shifts. I either under or over blip. I was wondering what's the best sequence to do it in that might make it a bit easier. Thanks!

Re: Causal Launching-Newish Driver
Yeah, I add throttle 98% of the time as well when casual launching(normally around 1500rpm or so). I'm gonna go practice just pausing at the friction point to see if it will help with no gas launching. Just sucks because like I said this car has a small window for the friction zone and you can move ...

Re: Causal Launching-Newish Driver
I'm going to try the pause and see how that helps me. Thanks for the advice. Anything helps

Re: Causal Launching-Newish Driver
I was giving car length gaps when I was able to so that's good. It bites around halfway up. The car only has 6000 miles so I doubt it's anything like that

Re: Causal Launching-Newish Driver
I had my first bumper to bumper experience the other day and it was well intense. My WRX has a non existent friction zone it seems so creeping up using just that is tough as all hell. I need to feed it some throttle to get it to move forward. Just wondering if this is a bad practice to get in to, bu...

Damn cow! Seeing that definitely puts things Into perspective. I guess when you're learning how to drive a standard you stress over it, it's natural. Hearing you guys say it's going to be fine really helps out tremendously. I love this website

Re: Clutch wear
I'm happy to hear that Cow. I do almost all of the good things that you say. If I know I'm going to be a light for awhile it goes in neutral. I might own a sports car but I don't drive it like a jackass. I'm 27 and am not rich lol. I buy everything with my own money so I learned the value of a dolla...

Re: Clutch wear
I was taught from the beginning to take my foot off the clutch while driving and at stops so luckily I didn't have those bad habits.

Re: Clutch wear
Launches aren't terrible. My downshifts are getting better. I do struggle with downshifting to second though. I blip for the others but second gear I normally feather the throttle because it works a bit better than blipping.
