Haha, just trying to be easy with it, but the more I think about it, T5s are likely the most abused transmission and I've yet to hear people complain about them on the Ford forums

T5 Shifting "Issue"

I have a 1986 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe equipped with a T5 transmission. It shifts great when you shift quickly. However, if you shift very slowly, it has a slight bumpy feel reminiscent of a grind but smooth and completely silent. I'm curious to whether or not this is typical? Clutch seems to disenga...

New Car: 1986 T-Bird Turbo Coupe

Hey all, purchased this 1986 Turbo Coupe April 2nd. It's California car with just around 80k on the clock (30k on the Ford Motor-sport speedometer which replaced the stock 85 mph one at about 50k). So far, I've had to replace the fuel-pump (I suppose that is to be expected since it was original). Ve...

Stick 1978 Chrysler LeBaron on eBay

Looks like a cool car! I think the 4-speed (3 speed with O/D) fits it well. Was probably sourced from a Plymouth or Doge variant. http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/172203349597?roken=cUgayN

Re: Hey! New Member from Georgia

Just got an '07 386 Pete with a CAT and 13-speed! I had a blast bobtail-ing it home, but it was sketchy because the chord was showing through on the tire... I never used a splitter before, but picked it up pretty easy. https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=894346447310131&id=100002043517025&...

Re: Careless Emission inspectors..

I only have to because I'm near Atlanta (I believe in a few years my car will be exempt because of its age). I wouldn't say he had no knowledge on how to drive stick, but there was really a lot left to be desired... That pop out of reverse was painful  !

Careless Emission inspectors..

Ok, so my BMW is a 1995 which means it has to be put on the dyno to be tested. The emission tester can't drive manual correctly! He had to reposition the car and, while doing so, popped it out of reverse which never happens! Then he revs up really high and slips the clutch! I really wanted to confro...

Re: My Shifting Style

OP, when you feel locked out, does it require extra force to get in gear or it simply won't go? How hard have you tried to engage it? Honestly, I think I'm just too gentle. It will always go in even if I don't use the method described above. It's just a matter of gently resting the shifter into the...

Re: My Shifting Style

When you step on the clutch pedal, you are dis engaging the clutch. Shifting out of gear to neutral without using the clutch pedal, or jumping the gun a little and doing it simultaneously with clutch pedal movement, is fine as long as it feels fine. Disengaging the clutch allows you to do it any ti...

Re: how do you feel about stick shifts with frills

My BMWs have reverse way to the left and up. I don't like it because my shifter is loose and it shakes my whole center column. The only way to easily select it is to do it fast because it's rather springy. :?

My Shifting Style

Lately while driving my 1995 e36 325is BMW, I noticed I'm getting "locked out" of second gear occasionally. I'm probably being persnickety and too gentle on the stick while I'm letting my synchros do their thing. (I'm sure the pressure plate is good, there's no chatter) I thought it would ...
