Re: RPM at 70 mph
Mazda 5 automatic 5th gear ratio is .69, while the manual is .75. They probably figure the manual is bit more enthusiast oriented and gives it more pep overall. Or the automatic can decouple and rev up a bit on the highway when flooring it. Honestly no idea, just picking at straws here.

Re: Good Automatics
I'm very curious now. I'm sure it won't be the same in a Grand Cherokee as it is in the Alfa. How is the Stinger automatic? I was looking at maybe a G70 at some point down the road. Stinger automatic is solid. It is their in house 8 speed and shares similar characteristics with the ZF. Also used in...

Re: Good Automatics
It's not just the slushbox hardware - more than a few vehicles "Share" the ZF RWD 8-speed, but they don't share the software that determines much of the driving experience. I think you'll have to test drive in order to find if a particular vehicle is worth selling your horse and buggy and...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
Next house must have additional parking. I only have room for two cars in the garage and don't want to block them in with another vehicle in the driveway. Would be great to have a little manual Miata to wrench on after the workday is done. :D johnf, you go away for a decade and come back with this ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
Hi Watkins, good to see ya! Been a minute, eh? All is well, how's things going? Admittedly not driving a manual these days, I had my 5 spees Mazda3 up until about a year ago. COVID made it too juicy to pass up buying a lightly used Stinger, which the wife can drive and is much safer for my daughter ...

Re: *New Language, Context, & Attitude (Now in Effect)*
If it was in that seven dirty words sketch that George Carlton did, its dirty. If the language is something you wouldn't say to your sweet grandmother, its dirty. If the words demean another race or culture, its swearing. C'mon folks you got this!

Re: The Mazda3 is dropped!
Good to see you guys! I'll try to cover a few of the epic posts I missed . . . :P Nah, I'm not racist. I just thought the white would look better. And the tint on that car is dark, so there's still a good amount of black on it. Surprisingly, the car doesn't get too dirty aside from some of the grime...

Re: Hello my name is Debbie, and I can't drive stick
It will always be case-by-case; however, it sounds like Debbie's situation may be improved by having her s/o out of sight for practicing. He can offer encouragement and tips before or afterwards, but during is Debbie-time.
