I had my first lesson at the start of january, and I was on the road, driving about happily within half an hour. Am I doing something wrong?

lol.......In the UK, auto transmission is rare, so if you can't drive standard, you're looked on as pretty deficient. That said, I'm only learning myself. But the up side of manual is that you accelerate quicker and the driving experience is a lot more fun 8)
