Saw a Porsche 918 Spyder in the flesh yesterday. Looked like a million bucks. Sorry, no photos, no clutch...

Re: Another Day, Another Idiot Driver (Misc Thread for Stori

So this morning I'm waiting to turn left at the lights, they turn to amber, there's oncoming traffic and I can tell there's no way this one oncoming vehicle is going to stop. Fine, I'll wait, but then the moron behind me starts laying on the horn.

Oncoming guy runs the red, I win!

There was a 2013 recall done on my '05 Legacy brake lines already, and I see the June 2014 on is posted on Transport Canada's web site now too.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

How can I explain hand over hand steering in a way that makes sense? I've tried demonstrating, and explaining and any number of other things, but my roommate cannot grasp the concept and consequently swings über wide during a simple turning maneuver. Twenty-five years ago I worked as a driving inst...

What most of those pick-up drivers fear from the railway tracks is spilling their $6 lattés.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Is there something about the new(er) HVLP (sp?) painting processes which make black, silver, and white easier to paint? Or, is that actually what the market demands? I had a black car one, never again (scratches too visible). White does look good on some but not all. Grey/silver is just so ubiquitou...

Re: Ford 1.0 Ecoboost

I've had a couple of turbo's and no issues. There are a few things to think about though: 1) Turbo engines generally need more frequent oil changes. Especially true on the Subies, because if your oils starts to sludge up it will block the filters in the turbo oil supply lines' banjo fittings. 2) Shu...

Re: Cars you would like to see

I'm actually shocked that we haven't yet seen a turbo BRZ or FR-S. I thought for sure that they'd offer one once the initial demand started to taper off. IMO, the addition of a turbo (with another 50 HP, and even more torque) would really make it a fantastic car. The low-end torque is the key thoug...

Re: Backup cameras mandatory by 2018

Late to the party on this one, but here are two comments... 1) While 60 deaths avoided is fantastic , don't get me wrong, that's 0.000019% of the US population. I'd suspect that there's better bang for the buck available. The only economics involved is profit for camera manufacturers and auto makers...

Re: 2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5 CVT

I had a 2014 Impreza CVT as a loaner last week. I just couldn't get used to the CVT thing. My brain kept asking "Why is my car accelerating when the engine noise isn't changing?". Another thing, shouldn't paddle shifters be on the column not the steering wheel? In playing round, I found th...
