Re: Clutch Pedal Starter interlock Poll
The CPI apparently foils car-jackers who take a running manual and manage to stall it and cannot restart it because they don't think to push the clutch pedal.

Re: Clutch Pedal Starter interlock Poll
Seems my 1977 F100 did not have the interlock because the clutch linkage broke once and I drove home without the clutch and at one point was forced to stop. To get going I shut off the engine, put it in first gear, and turned the key. But with my 2001 Ranger when the slave cylinder blew apart on me,...

Re: The beast has come...
Update. The tag on the transmission case is numbered for a T5z which is the super duty according to this site, http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Borg-Warner-T5-ID-Tags.htm In fact my tag number (1352 251 06706) matches the one here (first 7 digits): https://www.moderndriveline.com/shop/transmissions...

Re: The beast has come...
The mystery transmission. So the guy we bought the Mustang from said he had the transmission replaced with a World Class (WC) T5. That would be standard in 85 and up Fox Mustangs with a 3.35 first gear. However, I checked the gear ratio and mine (the supposed WC T5) has the 2.95 first of the non-WC ...

Re: What is wrong with automotive engineers?
I see what you mean on the circuitry. No easy way to make it happen. well, I like power windows for the passenger side, since I drive the Mustang with both windows down. But still would prefer a crank on the driver's door. Then there's just the basic elimination of risks. One simple example: I leave...

Re: What is wrong with automotive engineers?
Good point on avoiding energized circuits. At least on my 2008 Fusion the windows will roll up after the engine is shut off so long as a door has not been opened. But I wonder if it is possible to make it so that, when the key is off, hitting the switch sends a signal to energize the window circuit,...

What is wrong with automotive engineers?
You would think it should be pretty simple to have power windows and wire them so you can run them up or down as you please without having the key in and turned to the on position? What gives? Is it the engineers are not very bright? Is it the auto companies are afraid they will be sued because kids...

Funny, but ultimately a very sad story. I hope it is a lot way off before we get there.

Re: The beast has come...
Just had a clutch replaced in the Mustang. The King Cobra clutch the kid put in 30,000 miles before we bought it was toast. He beat on it. The flywheel had surface cracks, the pressure plate was heat damaged and the clutch disk was very worn. The clutch fork was worn and the throwout was noisy. Ever...

Did the opium help the shift cables?
