This isn't really new as my 2004 BMW X5 have this feature. I don't think I have used it more than a handful of times as its adaptive algorithm most likely have kicked down on its own before I have to press the pedal all the way down to activate the switch.

I was only kidding about sending this to your automatic driving friends, and his presentation likely will bore them, but it would be great for them to get a guy like him on the lot, who will try to steer them to trying out a manual, instead of steering them to the fanciest and most convenience load...

with more & more gadgets cramped into cars these days, no wonder no one wants to drive a manual. Most people can barely drive an automatic nowadays without being distracted by all those gadgets

I think the take rate for manual is only about 20% nowaday, even for the M division, when it used to be 100% since the M division never used to offer "automatics". I'm sure the manual will slowly disappear in M cars
