Re: Anxiety about slight inclines

imagine the grabbing point is lower than usual, closer to the floor and slip longer when I was learning, the only reason why I kept stalling the car on hills was the fear of excessive wear on the clutch. I just slip the clutch longer than usual and everything is fine. the car doesn't roll back that ...

Re: Lots of questions about learning

for steep inclines, imagine the grabbing point is lower than usual (closer to the floor) and slip longer

if all these methods fail, try avoiding hills for now

Re: RPMs when driving

I think I lugged my car's engine once when I first started driving manual. I took a right turn really fast at 4th gear and then there was an uphill. I couldn't downshift quick enough the engine made a horrible sound like someone banging on the hood of my car with a hammer, and the car stalled. scary...

Re: New kind of car ownership experience

wow, I would be so mad that my new car got damaged like that through no fault of my own.

I hope you sort things out with your dealer, hopefully a replacement with a new car.

Good luck!

Re: Proper way to park?

I have the traditional lever style parking brake.
maybe i will mention it to the technician when i have 25,000km service.

I've seen many cars parked in 3rd gear. I didn't know there was a reason behind that.

Re: Proper way to park?

The way I park my car is 1. stop with foot brake 2. e-brake on 3. clutch in 4. shift into 1st (reverse for downhill) 5. let go of the clutch and foot brake I guess it would be better to put the car in gear first and then pull the e-brake from now on. (and not use the clutch when the car is turned of...

Proper way to park?

What is the proper way/sequence to park a manual transmission car? I found this post from a member on another forum: The way you are SUPPOSED to park your vehicle with a manual gearbox is: - Turn the car off (foot on brake) - Put the car into gear (1st for uphill, rev for downhill, or 1st/rev for fl...

Re: The MPG thread

I recently went on a road trip from Vancouver BC to Regina SK. About 1900km each way. The computer on my car showed the average of 41 mpg with A/C off. 37 mpg with A/C on. 98% highway driving. 2.0 Turbo engine, 91 octane Shell V-power used. for 100% city driving, I average about 8 litre/100km which ...

Re: Gotten rusty in technique, or I need a new clutch?

how about if you take a break from driving for like 2 weeks? I had to go to Korea for about 2 weeks and in that time I couldn't drive my car (obviously - _-;) anyway, when I got back home and went for a drive in my car, my techniques felt much smoother than before. since then, my launches are much ...
