Re: Joy - Doors frozen shut and lock not working
The cars a 1997 Honda Prelude. The driver side lock seems completely stuck. I went in through the passnager side and tried to open it from the inside, but all that happened is the door handle is now sticking out and wont go back in (great). The manual lock wont release either. When I move it to unlo...

Joy - Doors frozen shut and lock not working
So now there is YET another problem with my car  (I swear its just one thing after another) It was very cold these last few days, and now my driver side, and passenger side doors are frozen shut. I got the passenger side door open finally - but the driver side is not giving any sign of progres...

Re: Recent problem - Rattling sound as engine revs.
Well guys thanks for all the advice - I'll probably be taking it into the shop this weekend if they have an opening - Performance wise the car seems fine, the rattling is still there - and hasn't gotten any worse or better over the last 2 weeks. So hopefully all thats wrong is just the exhaust shiel...

Re: Recent problem - Rattling sound as engine revs.
I could easily believe loose exhaust from that description. That's what my dad said when I gave him a call. (Back home he owns a shop where he does auto and tire work) I should also say that performance of the car - acceleration, speed, clutch sensitivity are all unaffected. Its just a really annoy...

Re: Recent problem - Rattling sound as engine revs.
Does it speed up and slow down with engine speed or vehicle speed? Does it change or go away when you put the clutch in? The sound of the rattling doesn't seem to get quicker, it seems to just get louder and more noticeable - almost like something is vibrating really bad. Well the sound only happen...

Recent problem - Rattling sound as engine revs.
Hey guys - Long time no see! So thanks to all the support I got here learning to drive standard - I've been happily enjoying my 1997 Honda Prelude. Untilll now - Within the past week - Ive noticed a peculiar sound that was not there before. It's difficult to explain - But it sounds like a con...

Re: What factors determine Clutch wear?
Hmm. . .Okay - but how do you use a clutch 'roughly'? I mean what determines if the clutch is being used in a "foot dragging lightly" or "foot dragging heavily" sort of way? Looking back at what I posted about it: RPM difference between clutch and flywheel - Generally this happe...

What factors determine Clutch wear?
Hello again guys! . . . So I drove by a vehicle today with its hazard lights flashing and the two people standing around it inspecting it. As I drove by I smelled a heavy, HEAVY burnt paper smell. (Instantly reminded me of what people say a 'burning clutch' smells like) and got me wondering what exa...

Weird Emergency Brake Issue . . .
The other day when I got home from work, I parked my car like always, raised the emergency brake, turned the car off, and when I was about to put it in first, i heard a "ping" sorta sound and my car begun to roll back. It seems my emergency brake "failed" since my parking spot is...

Grandma PLEASE - It's called a stop light for a reason . . .
So today coming home from work I almost trashed my Honda becuase some old granny comes burning through a red light - And I'm not talking "Yellow - then changed to Red" - I'm talking full on, Red for several seconds, we get the green. I'm in 3rd gear, going around 50-60 (Uhhh. . .30-36mph?)...

Was it just an 'off-day'?
So yesterday I went to and from work, no problems. Then later that evening I decided to get some supper at a fast food place since its been ages since Ive ate out. YIKES talk about traffic nightmare. I think it was my first experience in heavy heavy rush hour traffic. And although I didn't stall or ...

Re: The Next Step?
That Im not totally sure.
It's just a 'shift jerk' that I use to get a lot with Gear 1 and 2 when I was still learning to shift right. I have it when shifting into the high gears like 4 and 5, (especially downshifting) since those are the things I do the least with my car, so I'm not to good at it.

Re: The Next Step?
Ah, well its good to know I'm defiantly not damaging the clutch since I've never smelt or heard anything like that like, chances are I'm just being too gentle and paranoid over my car. Oh - I forgot to ask; something to work on is my high-gear downshifting. . . in the 5-3 range. For example, o...

Re: The Next Step?
Hello again guys! So I'm at about 150 miles - Finally confident enough that I take it all over, no matter what time. I take it to and from work each day, which adds about 10 miles of stop and go traffic and a day to my car. Shifting and all that is real easy, however; I am wondering about a few thin...
