Re: Inquiry/Poll Thread: Why do you love manual transmissio

Really fascinating sentiments, guys! Also, I couldn't agree with you all any better! It wasn't but last night where I was reading a review done by Car and Driver Magazine about the 2012 Kia Soul+ 2.0 6MT, and the figures were certainly there. The proof is in the pudding; cars like this are better wi...

Re: Police Blotter: Man Pulled Over For Driving A Stick Shif

Everyone remembers their first time. Their first time driving a stick shift that is. If you are learning to drive one in Lakewood Ohio, you might be seeing some Blue Lights in your rearview mirror. A man was pulled over after someone reported him as a drunk driver. As it turned out he was not doing...

Inquiry/Poll Thread: Why do you love manual transmissions?

Long time, no hear from! :D My reasons for creating this thread is because I am looking for your opinion/vote on the following question: Why do you love the manual transmission? It is all for a Senior-year graduation project that I had started back in February, where I had set out to create a resear...

Re: Another Day, Another Idiot Driver (Misc Thread for Stori

You wanna know my story of idiocy? Take me traveling from the local grocery market getting ready to make a left hand turn on a major thoroughfare (22nd Street). Also take into account some bitch in a Honda Accord coupe. They clearly saw my left blinker flashing, yet the f**k still moves! So as I fin...

Re: Volkswagen Corrado

I actually liked the VW Corrado, come to think about it. If I remember correctly, back in elementary school, an old school mate that I would talk to on and off would get picked up by his father in a Corrado. I remember it being a Bright Red example just like the one you described. To this day, I thi...

Re: I just recently received my permit! :)

yeah, it's at least relatively cheap and easy to get your permit and license over here  :?  They recently changed the requirements here, so now even a moped license costs something like $650 and it's not valid for "four-wheeled mopeds" that have become too popular ...

Re: Starting in 2nd

Starting in second is a useful technique if you are on a slippery surface that does not offer much grip. However, it involves transmitting more torque through the slipping clutch than starting in first and that will lead to a shorter clutch life. Much better to practice your 1 > 2 shifts until you ...

Re: New member, Philadelphia - bought first standard trans c

Welcome! :D

I am really loving your new BMW! Looks just like a fine Bavarian gem!

Also, you just happen to live nearby; I live in Chester, which is basically next to Philly!

Respect, man!

Re: I just recently received my permit! :)

Congrats! How much does driving school cost? If you're only doing it to get behind the wheel of a 3-pedal vehicle, I'd just save that money towards a beater with 3 pedals. Thanks, guys. :D As a matter of fact, I am actually looking to save my money primarily for just that specific purpose, even tho...

I just recently received my permit! :)

Finally, after months of constant driving and studying to pass my Permit test, only to wait extra longer for my Birth certificate and social security card, I managed to get my Driver's permit on 21 May, a.k.a. "Judgment Day" (especially to those of you who haven't been living under a rock ...

Re: SS.com Meet date question

Aw, damn. I know that I won't be able to come. I'm probably gonna be stuck in some summer enrichment program (and I don't mean summer school) by then. That, and my dad probably isn't gonna feel like driving me that far out. I might be able to pick you up, as long as I go alone, probably clos...
