Re: I'm back...with a new car!
It's even more fun when someone is in the car that doesn't know what's in it and they figure it'll be slower than molasses! Especially since it has the stock cluster that redlines at 6800 but the B16a revs out to 8200. People driving with me when I get onto a highway think I'm gonna blow it up! Wher...

I'm back...with a new car!
http://imgur.com/a/E5eDT 1999 Civic Hatchback DX with a B16a swap. Obviously 5 speed. Picked it up for $3000 cash from a buddy of mine that had a child and needed money for a more suitable car for a father. The B16a swap was done by himself and his brother (hes an Engineer\Machinist and his brothers...

Re: 1st Gear: post your MPH @2000 rpm & RPM @ 20 MPH
ill check tomorrow, but i know that my car's 1st gear runs out (when i shift at 7k) right at 30 mph, so i would conclude that 2k would put me roughly around 10 mph. its kinda pointless to look at the speedometer (in a car from 1998) because the speedometer is kinda off at lower speeds. not to mentio...

Re: Close-ratio gearboxes
theres a reason transmissions are developed for an engine, and not the other way around. a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder and a 5.7 liter v8 are going to need completely different combinations of space between gearing, number of gears, and final drive ratios. on a torque-ier, lower revolution engine, having w...

Re: Good Reason To Lock Your Car
my cousins out in CT used to not only leave all their doors unlocked (house, car, etc.), but also left the cars in neutral with the ebrake down (out in their yard) when they had manuals and left keys in the ignition too. it took neighbors welcoming themselves into their house (who had been watching...

my friend alan got pulled over by a CT cop while driving on I-91 into mass. enfield cop pulled him over, but wasn't allowed to get out of his car. he called a mass trooper and the trooper took over from there. not sure if its the same from NY to NJ though That would be my guess. Someone could "...

Re: Fast Highway Entry Launch?
tankinbeans - thanks for the suggestion. Ya not concerned with smoothness in that situation. Ideally i'd like to floor it from the get go like in an automatic. I suppose i just have to figure out how to address the same situation in an manual without doing a "hard launch" (high rpm->clutc...
