Re: Where have all the Pump Jockeys gone?

There is also a safety factor when the credit card is validated electronically. (Anybody remember having their card checked against the printed list of "Bad" cards?) There was also, believe it or not, pressure from churches for the elimi...

Re: Where have all the Pump Jockeys gone?

I believe they were all randomly picked as targets by psychopathic murderers. Some were killed and some escaped by joining travelling carnivals. I think the change to self-serve gas pumping was a means of somewhat softening the sudden ga...

If you had no clue what you were talking about when you promised to take the electric car market by storm, you might just only be a floor and rug vacuum manufacturer. https://s3-prod-europe.autonews.com/s3fs-public/styles/width_792/public/Dyson%20web.jpg https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/britis...

Re: BKs New Car

Most people use the terms "light" and "Heavy" to describe the force required to actuate the clutch release pedal. Ok, that's what I thought! Thanks for the explanation. ....and then you have something like the Jeep Wrangler, where they add a second clutch disk in order to increase the torque capaci...

Re: BKs New Car

What exactly makes a clutch heavy vs. light? Is it as simple as the weight of the clutch disc? Or is it how hard the pedal is to push to the floor and keep there? The clutch is my Mazda 3 seems very light to me, because it takes very little effort to push to the floor. I've never experienced a diff...

Re: BKs New Car

That is by no means a heavy clutch. If anything its a bit too light. It is responsive at least. What exactly makes a clutch heavy vs. light? Is it as simple as the weight of the clutch disc? Or is it how hard the pedal is to push to the floor and keep there? The clutch is my Mazda 3 seems very ligh...

Re: Manuals you'll miss in 2019...

Speaking of Manuals that have gone missing: The fact that Chevrolet decided to swap the automatic for a CVT is less than stellar for the driving enthusiast crowd, but it replaces a six-speed automatic, not a six-speed manual, hence it's not the end of the world. And, honestly, the Malibu's transmis...

Re: BKs New Car

Driven one, well an FR-S, did like, but not for what they're asking for it. I'd rather just have a 2 seater at that point rather than a pointless backseat which people having legs couldn't use. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/p__/images/9/9f/Blonde_Legolas.jpeg/revision/latest?cb=20160401084746...

Re: If ..........., You Just Might Be Drivin' an Electric

That 0-60 number is pretty pokey by most standards, but a wild improvement over the original drivetrain in most of them... you done read my mind. 8 seconds isn't TOO bad for an economy car though... edit: re-read...12 seconds is indeed pokey, even for an economy car... Go back to some historic road...

Re: How to destroy the engine on $70,000 car!

A friend of mine has a Mustang GT with line lock, the use of which will allegedly not void his warranty. Are you saying he added the line lock or it came equipped that way from the factory? One some Dodges, they lock the transmission, not just the pressure applied to the front brake lines. If you j...

Re: How to destroy the engine on $70,000 car!

Back in the day,.....the 426 cubic inch Street Hemi was rated, some say conservatively, at 425 horsepressures, far below the power output of many of today's MOPAR engines, but it came with no manufacturer's warranty. When driven off the stealership lot, the risk of mechanical failure rested square o...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Gold Cloud in for servicing. Sunroof rattle and what sounds like tranny whine (high rope). Got a loaner which is even more clouderific than my Gold Cloud: a pearly white cloud RX 350. White Cloud soaks up the bumps better than a heavy duty sponge. Has telepathically automatic headlights. Good base ...
