Re: RomPirate's new-new-new-new-new car

I'm tired of paying lots of $$ for alignments so I'm giving it a shot with my own setup:

My maths tells me that i'm at +0.179 degrees which is allegedly within spec.

Re: I hate this car

Maybe its because of the other cars that i've owned that I find it less exciting. Speaking of which, I've toyed with the idea of getting an E46. Not sure if I can make the swap since this rabbit is the closest we have to a "truck". How does the I6-2.5 compare to the VW 2.5? I've neve...

I hate this car

And I love it. My Rabbit, that is. See original post: http://www.standardshift.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=20156 I love how practical it is. I carried some 10' 2x4 in it, along with pickets to build a fence. High speed stability is great. I've cruised at 90mph. Solid. Extremely comfortable. S...

Re: RomPirate's new-new-new-new car

Unfortunately no images of the install. Install is the reverse of removal. Except 100x more difficult cause everything has to line up.

Also, the waterpump gasket is phallic in nature.

Re: RomPirate's new-new-new-new car

It's been a while. Long story short, i've replaced the engine with a Mazda re-manufactured unit. Word on the street is that these units are actually 95% brand new. It shows. https://s7.postimg.org/ppbfyehlj/new_Engine.jpg The only thing that looks used is the engine hangar. New flywheel, water pump ...

OT: Glad to see this thread is alive and kicking. I'll have to frequent this place more. Manuals are dying :(

Re: RomPirate's new-new-new-new car

I have a 1 car garage (miata lives in it) for three cars + wife's. The Rx8 is on jackstands off to the side. So I purchased a rotary compression tester (rotarycompressiontester.com) compression is poor! Cold: 66 PSI @ 226 RPM == ~73 PSI @ 250. Compression can only be lower when engine is up to opera...

RomPirate's new-new-new-new car

Well, new to me at least. I've been looking at getting another car for some time now. Took a look at the Fiesta ST, the FR-S and some E46's. I'm a shade tree mechanic that happens to like tools a lot too, and my other cars have been so darn reliable I haven't had a good wrenching in some time. It on...

Car goes up on jackstands: http://s32.postimg.org/ishh2d0qr/jackstands.jpg I still love the rabbit. So practical. Off to trade the wheels. http://s32.postimg.org/ci9ccvv2b/vw_trunk.jpg Hey, an aftermarket exhaust! Not sure which one, but it makes the car sound beefy http://s32.postimg.org/e71w7hczn/...
