Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Team, I'm really not so much for optimism because my mentality relies on 'if you expect the worst, you will never have to be disappointed'. I used to say the exact same thing - I am a natural pessimist, and for a long time this was my philosophy. But over the past few years, I have come to the reali...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Cow's post and some of the others on tire pressure should probably be moved to it's own thread. The information is too good to be lost in the MIsc Thread.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

No one is advocating that you inflate your tires more than the maximum inflation pressure specified for the tire. (Which is stamped on the sidewall). That would be over-inflation by definition. The cause of most blow-outs is actually thermal damage to the tire as a result of too much flexing, which ...

wtf
Some cars have weak/poorly designed clutch pedal brackets that can develop a crack and eventually break. The gen 1 RX-8s suffer from this.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

And I honestly wish it was something that wasn't prioritized period... should they account for something? Sure- but not nearly the hefty pendulum swing that it seems to have. I had to ride a few mathematical assessments in some of my applications within the last few weeks... nothing that I couldn't...

Re: Refining Technique & Scenario Based Q's

I wouldn't be surprised but the thing is it seems very intermittent, definitely not consistent, and I would even say not that often. I was just guessing it had to do with the RPM level, or how fast I'm stamping on the clutch, or both. The thing is it seemed to happen more prevalent when the weather...

Re: What happened to this place?

CAUTION: Sappy post ahead. I've been feeling a bit guilty w/ respect to this website, because for a while now I haven't been active. I've always been a bit of a lurker, but in the last few years have not had too much free time, and when I did, I've been mostly on rx8club.com dealing with #rotaryprob...

Sorry to hear that Tony. You'd think this is something that would be grounds for a recall, since, you know, brakes are kind of important. But we've all seen how GM handles those...

Re: Manual cars face extinction as congestion triggers a clutch backlash

The other day I saw an op-ed on DouchedIn, talking about how self-driving cars should be mandatory. The 1st step is convincing the public that people who drive themselves, let alone shift their own gears, are a danger to your children.

Re: Jastreb's 2009 Mazda Rx-8, "Isabella"

So many engine failures on Series I RX-8s (2004-2008) that Mazda extended warranty coverage on the engine core (rotors, housings, bearings, eccentric shaft) to 8 years/100,000 miles in order to prevent an RX-8 owner riot and to re-assure future buyers. The extended engine core warranty also applies ...

Re: Jastreb's 2009 Mazda Rx-8, "Isabella"

Lot's to post about here, but I'll start with this funny video. Also I'm getting a reman engine courtesy of Mazda. Also a new clutch is going in, since the engine is out of the car anyway. I think the old engine would have gone another 20k miles before serious drive-ability problems, but compression...
