Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I bought my GTO in November of 2009 or so and didn't have a winter car yet at that time. As I was shopping for a winter beater, I got caught in a about 2 inches of slush snow that froze as temps fell into the night. I drove home on a sheet of frozen snow. In a 400hp 400/torque RWD car with summer ti...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I suspect there is a lot of integrity to the roof of a bus. School bus roofs are extremely strong because they're designed to survive rollovers. That also means it can/will survive me putting a roof deck and some solar panels on it. Does that apply to school buses only with the intent to kill the o...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

A mid-length full size chassis bus. Under no circumstances do I want a cutaway van short bus, and I dont really want to deal with moving or storing a full 35-40' bus either. I can easily hook a trailer up to a medium sized bus if I do need to bring more stuff, but I doubt that would be a necessity....

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Watkins, what kind of bus do you realistically have in mind size-wise? For me, 10k buys a lot of travel trailer I can haul. Hmm...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The desire to buy an old school bus and make a camper out of it is strong right now I've been looking at old pop-ups on CL. Checked out a couple in the 2-2.5k range. That's probably going to be my next move to get one of these and use as base camp when we go camping. Much easier with two dogs than ...

Re: *New Language, Context, & Attitude (Now in Effect)*

To be honest, I've pulled away from Facebox and tend to prefer meatspace over cyberspace. I used to be a heavy user of Edmund's CarSpace forum, but pulled back from that. I was never much into Instagram, Snap Cat and Twitter. It's been nice to get away from the boring, overly political crap. In lie...

Re: *New Language, Context, & Attitude (Now in Effect)*

I have no idea why I was reading this thread at nearly 11 in the evening, but the first page of this brought back memories of this place long ago, before social media became the default replacement for forums by creating groups and thus nearly killing this place. I'm surprised the 5 people that post...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

A modern hydraulic clutch has no feel anyway, so that's easy enough. Maybe they could use force-feedback technology from arcade game joysticks to transmit synchronizer feel...hmm... Can't really agree with that. In my opinion, a hydraulic clutch usually has far less effort, but not really less feel...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

The Supra surprisingly doesn't do much for me, although I am a fan of the car from 20+ years ago. The pictures leave me with a lukewarm impression from the first few glances, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. The interior seems to be certainly uninspired. It just looks like the standard conser...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

So I have been reflecting on the last 10 years of my life. So, let me say up front - this will be a reflective post made mostly of my rambling. Skip to TLDR at the end if so inclined. I'm 35 now, and I feel that the past 10 years were, in a way, were more formative than your standard formative years...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Couldn't resist. Put some beefy rubbers on the truck - went larger than stock of course. Not gonna seriously wheel the thing like I did with my Wranger and Xterra - it's just too big - but this truck does see dirt (gasp, not a bro truck!), so it's warranted. I use it often to access remote places an...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

So I have decided to take the leap. The GF and I are looking at moving to Denver. To accomplish this, I am currently working with industry professionals on locating a new position for me there, to ensure not only positive financial gains but also to ensure that the opportunity out there matches my g...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

seems like a car better suited for up here in the snowy country, though it would be better for off-road driving than a lower car (or FWD if she has AWD). how's that ancient infotainment system? i believe that had the earliest version of the safety package, so not surprised it doesn't work well. wou...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I tried thebradar cruise control in the GF's car and I wasn't too impressed. Felt a bit out of control. Also would stop paying as much attention and later realize that I'd been stuck behind a dude going 60 when normally I'd have passed him a long time ago. WHICH CAR SHE ROCKS?? '16 RAV4 XLE. Not a ...
