Wow, the topics on this board really go in all directions quickly. I don't really think practicing with family is the best approach (that is: I don't like it), and that's not because it sounds weird. We're so used to family (especially mothers) that talking to them doesn't require any inventive soci...

i mean, i personnaly dont get why anyone would care, but yeah. I guess there might be many reasons why someone would care or be sensitive to something like that. Chances are an emotionally negative experience related to living in that neighborhood happened, or something related to financial status....

This happens to me always. I've only been driving for seven months, although a friend of mine who has been driving for decades says this happens to her too.

I used to play games like Q3 and HL online but that was a while back. I tried ET once but I found it required too much patience heh. Don't have time for games these days.

This thread reminds me of an idea I had once - that besides the normal gears, there should be first-second...-fifth reverse gears so you can, if necessary, drive everywhere in reverse at the same speeds as going forward.

All quotations below are from SteveUK's various posts in this thread. Let's begin: "When I told them/they read about rev matching, they all fell about laughing." "[revmatching] is pointless" This is essentially what you have to say about rev-matching. (a) Your colleagues are amus...

Definitely rev-matching downshifts, and also I was surprised that launching uphill via using the clutch to hold the car worked so well. My driving instructor mentioned it once and made me do it (lol) but I stalled and gave up, until I read it here again and tried it when I was on a (not so steep) hi...

Hey

Hey everyone! I've been visiting this board for several weeks but only recently thought of trying to post something. I'm a student at the University of Ottawa in the third year (math/psychology).

I've about eight weeks until I can take my driving test. I'm told it's fairly easy by some of my friends who already took it, and my driving instructor told me to take it on automatic because there are some strange additional requirements (which he doesn't agree with) if I take it on manual such dow...

Ah! Looking people in the eyes is difficult, especially the opposite sex. I can say that I used to have that same reaction to eye contact, especially with a girl I was interested in. One thing you might try is just before you meet someone, realize that you have some trouble with the eyes. Actually s...

Yeah I really like this board for its interesting off topic topics. I guess another tip could be humor. Humor and lightheartedness is good. I don't think there's anything else that works better to relieve a slightly tense situation than a joke. Just remember that different people have different sens...
