Re: I'm not stepping on my brake pedal!

I'm always stopped on a hill around here, so I don't think about this. However, after a few close calls, I do tap the brakes when slowing down.

Re: Batman Goes Racing!

the car is actually designed by a top racecar engineer. they were trying to get it approved as the new spec indycar, but fortunately indycar went in another direction. the new indycar doesn't look much better though. so apparently they converted it to a le mans prototype to race in the 24 hours of ...

Re: 2013 Viper

I think it is fantastic btw. Serious question. Is the viper still relevant in its class? Doe the technology, performance ((including handling), and pricing still compete within the market? Vipers have sort off fallen off lately. What is its class? Based on pricing it would be the Z06/ZR1, GTR, and 9...

So the Viper was unveiled at the NY auto show. What do we think?

Re: 4onthefloor's new wheels

did you ever get an intake? i was thinking of just doing a K&N drop-in filter in my 02 but I'm not sure if it is worth it. The car is powerful enough for me as is, but a little more throttle response would be welcome (note: i am still getting used to the gas, brakes, clutch etc.) I never did an...

Re: Considering buying a used car

Theft risk statistics are directly proportional to the number sold. More of them, more of them stolen. Do you mean that a car that sold more will have a higher percentage of thefts, or simply that it will have a higher number of thefts at the same percentage? I imagine you mean the former and I sus...

Re: Popular Mechanics 10 Best Manual Transmission Cars

It does say "driver's cars"...did you read the quote I provided? I didn't quote PM with something that I made up. Go back and look at the PM site again in case you missed it. By common definition, a driver's car is not a Jeep SUV. It's a car that has some kind of sporting potential and an...

Re: Popular Mechanics 10 Best Manual Transmission Cars

The Jeep doesn't belong on a list of "...the greatest driver's cars that still offer a manual transmission." First, it's not even a car. Secondly, if it were a car, it surely wouldn't be considered a driver's car. It's an SUV that you can get with a stick. Putting it on a list of the grea...

Re: Popular Mechanics 10 Best Manual Transmission Cars

...Here are 10 of the greatest driver's cars that still offer a manual transmission. . . . 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Seriously? Popular Mechanics should stick with articles about building garden sheds and leave the car stuff to the car magazines. Why do you disagree with the Jeep? For the off road...

Re: Reverse gear position

Only problem is 1-2 grind for some cars. Otherwise, twin 9.8" disc clutch + short-throw shifter = easy but firm, smooth shifts. Good times! Needs wider tires, though - traction's an issue. :) Sounds like more of the same. :( That's the same grind I had from new and finally the sycro completely...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

So I'm putting a simple stereo in the car while it is out of commission. I took the driver's door panel off today and found that the plastic lining had been torn during installation. Any guesses as to what the Aussies used to patch it?
