Ok, I got the 'Gentle Launch' video with captions in a .mov Quicktime movie. I put the captioning in the top 1/3 of the screen, rather than the standard lower 1/3, so that you could still make out what he was doing with the shift knob and clutch while he talks.
The file size is 26.0 megs, so if you either have AOL Instant Messenger, or a site where it could be hosted, I can get it to you.

Also just finished subtitling on 'Putting it all togerther, Part 1'. I'm going to try and get around to Part 2 later on today, or after I get back from work late tonight. The g/f and I are going to be in San Francisco for a week starting tomorrow morning, so no access to an editing system for that time, but eventually I'll get around to captioning all the vids.

On a semi-related note, I hope I can rent a standard in SF for some hardcore hill start practice

Johnf514, I was talking about basically using Avid, but so far as I know, you need to time it by hand, which was why I was planning on hunting down my fansub friends. They would have some experience with this. However, someone with acutal experience has beaten me, and that's probably a good thing. ^_^
