quasiturbine engines?

Post by initialeclipseshift »

I had some qustions on quasiturbine engines. My brother and I were debating on this on the way to school. 1) are they mass produced or even produced at all. 2) are they more efficient than rotary engines are not. I said rotaries were more efficient he said quasitubines were. What do you guys know about this topic?

They have not been mass produced, but the patent holders are looking into building a demo model.

In theory, they are more efficient than a rotary engine (more or less their target competitor), however, that has yet to be proven.

Good debate!

I'm sorry, but I just love the name "Wankle" (rotary is just so boring) I know that I am an adult and I should not find things like this funny, but I do. It's the little boy inside me trying to get out and misbehave!!!

i c. I thought rotaries would be more efficient beacuse quasiturbines have that stored heat and pressure build up. I still sense a problem with this quasiturbine or "pump" engine. I just need to do more research. Thnks for the link man!

No it is a type of rotary engine it was on Top Gear a while back. It is used in the Mazda RX-8 here is a link for it.

I guess that's what Steve meant...

EDIT: oops, too late
EDIT2: and the joke doesn't work if the name is pronounced in German (which would sound somewhat like VUNN-kell)

I don't know much about this engine at all, techinically, isn't any pistonless engine rotary?

well thats what I would have said but I found out about the quasitubine and the stogen engines which were also pistonless. Mainly any engine that is pistonless runs on steam or is a rotary.

BTW if you were wondering the Stogen engine died out beacuse of the high risk rate. way to many explosions.

PS all these are branches off of the rotary
