These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

no more air valves no more air compressors at gas stations
no more repair kits

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin. It will be awhile before they are available to the automotive industry.
what good are these?

why do we need theM?
Did you not read the thread or what?? Your questions have already been answered.

Hmm I wonder what the speed rating on those would be? Since there is more rubber holding the tire together... but then again the extra rubber could potentially cause more centrifical force. Making the entire wheel stretch and possibly hop off the rim but I think that would be extremely high speeds.

Still curious though.

Centrifugal force is a myth. Centripital acceleration is real. ;)

The tire thickness with a side wall would be really FAT i wonder how "low profile" they can go with them?

I'd imagine they'd still have a limited treadlife. also, that design looks sketchy with the bottom buckling like that. also makes me wonder how run-flats work :?: :o

apparently there's a few different ways run flat works, sidewalls strong enough to support vehicle, solid inner liner, or self sealing inner liner.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_flat_tire

as for the Tweel, it would need to flex like that or it wouldn't handle for crap.

seen it before. Said that if the wheel goes into production, they will have sidewalls. And I wonder teh same about the low pros... how well would they work?

Blah Blah heh.
From Wikipedia wrote:A real or "reactive" centrifugal force occurs in reaction to a centripetal acceleration acting on a mass. This centrifugal force is equal in magnitude to the centripetal force, directed away from the center of rotation, and is exerted by the rotating object upon the object which imposes the centripetal acceleration

The reactive centrifugal force is as "real" as it can get as it can open the door of the car and even shatter DVDs
Car door thing is from an example on the site.

Okay what ever, brain hurting. But I still would like to know what the speed rating would be.

Are these tires lighter than traditional tires? If not they are worthless to me, since they will eat up more of the engines power.
