New Member from Long Island, NY

Post by minishadow »

Hey all,

Joined months ago right after i ordered my 2014 Mini Countryman All4 S, but first post. Read quite a bit on the site already.

New to manual driving (about 1.5 weeks). So far things are going well, but i've got questions now that i've put theory into practice!

thanks to everyone on the forum.

Thanks everyone! I'm from north shore Nassau - 35 mins from city. Yup traffic around here can get bad!

yeah, the only places i've had really bad luck with traffic on LI (that i can remember) were on the cross island (heading from the whitestone bridge to the LIE or grand central) and on the southern state parkway heading east from the belt. i've also been in NYC traffic of course, but it's usually not as bad as most people would expect (except on the gowanus and sometimes the belt). i drive an automatic these days, but i usually didn't find the manual any more annoying in most traffic (except the one time on the cross island and another time down in delaware on the way to VA). i have college friends who live in and around bellmore and massapequa, and usually go down at least once a year. i happen to be meeting up with them next weekend but in brooklyn, then in queens the next weekend.

Oh cool! well - if you are ever in Nassau - i'd look forward to a meetup. Maybe you can take a ride with me and give me some pointers :)

Welcome! Nice ride. Feel free to ask any questions. And if you meet rob for a ride-a-long, make him bring pizza.

I am surprised that no one commented on the username minishadow and suggested any reference to our own member Shadow.

I expected Shadow to come in and post this.
