Yes, that title says "slush" in it. I don't think you can drop a stick shift behind the 3.0L V6 (I think that's what it has anyway, I don't think it's the 4.0L). Then again, research prevails.

The truck is plain and simple:

White
Regular Cab
Vinyl seats
A/C
2WD

Has a bedliner and has 66k miles on it. Dad gave up his 2006 Mustang GT in hopes we'd get a stick shift econobox replacement. The f*ckus had no A/C, looked rather beat to hell, and vibrated like mad. And it had HotWheels rimz that matched the car. It was fun to drive though.

We went everywhere to find a slushbox. I found a 4-cyl Ranger with a stick, however it was misfiring (and strangely, so was a 2000 year model Taurus LX). So we settled on this truck since I liked how the other truck was - small but tough looking to an extent.

I'll have pics up by Monday.

Congrats! Post pics of the engine bay, maybe our SS sleuthiness can determine if it's a 3.0 or 4.0.

Isn't there an engine cover that says "4.0L" or "3.0L"?

It's DARK outside. I'm not going outside with a flash light when I'm sure I'll be looking under the hood sometime today or Monday when I take pics.

Not only can the manual be dropped behind any of the Ranger engines, Ford offered them that way.

Yup, should be an easy project...more like a weekend instead of a whole summer.

Hmm…might go for it sometime in the future!

So, the truck has the 3.0L V6 and a five-speed auto.

The truck is well built, solid - ya know, Built Ford Tough. I wish it had a spray in bedliner because the OEM drop in looks like shit.

Okay?

FYI, the 3.0L is a pushrod engine.

Do this conversion:

3.0 automatic 2WD --> 4.0 manual 4WD

Hmmm…if I remember correctly, the 4.0L was found in several different Ford vehicles - probably each with different engine mounts.

4WD and a stick shift conversion should be an easy job - question is, manual first or 4WD conversion first?

Do both at the same time... they're related. Just get a manual transmission with a transfer case and modify your frame to support the components.

Sounds like a job for the future. Maybe this summer, maybe next summer.
