Hey everyone. I'm Eric B. I'm 19 years old, and I've been driving stick for about 4.5 years. It all started when my Uncle taught me the basics in his red 1995 Honda Civic Coupe. Never got past 3rd gear on that thing, as it was up and down his 1/4-mile driveway. That was all I had for about 2.5 years or so. Then, my Dad bought the first manual car he's owned since before I was born. He bought a 2004 Mazda3, with just over 100,000 miles on the odometer. I asked him if he'd re-teach me, as I'd never driven manual on the road. He did, and I've been hooked since!! The only cars I drive day-to-day have been slushboxes (1999 Toyota RAV4, 2001 Subaru Forester, 2003 Dodge Caravan, 1998 Ford Taurus, 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager, and my current "shared-car", with my fiancée, is her 2001 Toyota Camry LE auto 4cyl.)

Long story short, I've driven A LOT of automatic cars. Haven't entirely hated them, but ever since learning stick, it's pretty much all I want to drive. The manual cars I've driven the most have been my Dad's Mazda3 and my friend's 2000 Chevy S-10 reg. cab 4cyl. 2WD truck. They're both a lot of fun, for different reasons.

Anyway, now I'm starting to look into a car to buy. I'm thinking Honda is a good place to start, as they're manual transmissions are regarded as some of the best in the sub-$100,000 category (i.e. the working man's category).

I see great minds think alike, Eggy . I was clicking on this thread about to post something similar. Welcome to the forums! Honda manuals are pretty easy and fun to drive. Either way, test the waters and see what you like.

Isuzu manual transmissions are... err.. pretty annoying actually BUT they're really really tough!
We have an automatic Taurus from that generation too. It's pretty nice.
