Off topic, but I've always preferred simple interiors. My car has the basics for instruments. Heat/AC, fan speeds, fan direction selector, and a CD deck. It seems stuff is becoming too complicated to me. Why do I need touch screens? I'm sure that there are things now that are very useful, but most of it just seems like crap you'll rarely use.

I hate touchscreens as a general rule. I love the AVIC F700BT I put in my car though. I use it all the time, and buttons would make it a bitch to navigate and junk.

I agree with FDSpirit. The touchscreen based controls seem flashy and probably sell well on the showroom floor, but when I'm actually driving the car, I'd prefer actual knobs and buttons. That way you don't have to be staring at a screen while trying to drive.

On the touch screen thing: I've always thought that about the touchscreen controls in Star Trek The Next Generation (and other ST series set in/after that time). People's fingers move really fast, like touch-typing, even if they're not looking at the touchscreen.

I can type almost as fast on a decently sized touchscreen qwerty as I can on a good old fashioned keyboard, but I have to look at the touchscreen...

+1. There's only one button in the Escort, and since the rear window defroster is not working at the moment, even that's not in use!

Same leather boot from Redline. Sorry for the later pics being a little dark. Phone photos suck. I need to replace the OEM shifter knob soon though. The stitching is starting to de-stitch? And it's pretty worn.
