So tell me. Why do you hate your car so much? :?
I ask, because you're basically driving it like you hate it.

I feel like someone is pulling the walls over our eyes. This has _got_ to be some sort of joke.

oh my God, 5k RPM drops on a VW trans? If im not mistaking, the diff. is held down by rivets, it'd be lucky to survive a 3k proper race launch let alone a 5k RPM clutch DROP.

Like I said many times before. I have had other cars that gave me no problems 4 times as longer.

just b/c one car will take a hell of an abusive beating and not break doesn't mean all cars will. you gotta pay to play and if you want to do burnouts and clutch drops and chirp your tires all the time then you should expect that something will break and not be surprised when it does.

Even if that's the case, that only gets you to 12k miles before breaking stuff.

Either you're a troll or an idiot. I don't deal with either very well. I'm done here.

When I was 16, I owned a 1989 Plymouth Voyager minivan with 65K miles and no problems. As a dumb kid in a lightly-policed town, I drove it like an idiot. Neutral drops, sliding around turns, and hitting curbs and bumps way too hard. The van paid dearly, and so did I; within my 2.5 year ownership of the beast at 100K, I replaced the transmission twice, radiator, alternator, shocks, struts, steering assembly, tires twice and other misc. components.

I drove it hard. That's the only reason why.

It doesn't matter what kind of car you drive hard - it can be a Geo Metro or a heavy-duty truck. If abused, they will fail. When they fail is a question of chance. But I'll bet my money it's at the worst time possible.

So if you want your car to last, quit abusing it. Wise up - life ain't free. :)

if you shread the teeth of the gear and keep driving, won't the little pieces of metal in the gearbox rip up other stuff? I imagine once you loose one gear, the others are bound to go soon. You probably needed a whole transmission rebuild when you lost 2nd gear the first time.
