Here it is. They charged for the diagnostic...wtf.

Didn't do the seafoam yet, need to find a tube to fit around the PCV hose connector that's on top of the manifold. Or maybe a funnel.

Victoria Automatic Transmission didn’t really fix the problem, and will charge more to fix it. So he took it to a Ford dealership.

1998 Ford Windstar, 171,999 km.

Summary:
-Replaced cam sensor
-Replaced cam sensor synchronizer
-Scanned ECU codes

Took to Suburban Motors (Ford dealership) for rough idle diagnostic ($666.89 subtotal + $80.02 taxes = $746.91).

Description: A check and advise for engine idles rough and stalling intermittently: already has new plugs, intake gaskets, water pump, and serp belt tensioner.

Diagnosis and pinpoint, code P0340 in memory - other codes from photocopy are not in memory but will be recorded again and will set light. Test intake runner system - needs front control replaced. Pinpoint code P0340 - needs cam sensor and synchronizer replaced.

See photocopy on driver’s seat for previous codes.

-13D Check Engine Light diagnosis ($79.95 labour)

Description: Replace cam sensor and synchronizer.

-Labour ($98.85)
-45 electrical/lights ($98.85)
-1 DU*57* Stator asy ($209.26)
-1 DA*2096* Synchronizer asy ($260.95)

Note: Recommended to replace 1 front (rad. side) intake runner control and grommet for the rod.

-$430.32 for intake runner control
-$13.23 for grommet
-$257.01 labour
-$91.07 taxes
=$791.63 for recommended work, not carried out.

With all this money, your dad could seriously just buy another car. Sorry but IMO it is time to say goodbye to the Deathstar.

awesome.

a cam sensor code will show up when you scan it, i will guarantee my dick and balls on it. sounds like victoria gaytomatic was trying to get your dad to bring the deathstar in twice for them to charge him twice.

What? First of all...what is a cam sensor (lol I know I'm a nub, don't even mention it), and why will a cam sensor code show up when you scan it?

it tells the puter which way the cam is facing. the 3.8 is a pushrod engine, it only has 1 cam. the ECU runs the spark maps off the crank sensor and the cam sensor. some cars wont even start if one of those dont work.

a cam sensor is kinda a big deal, thats why it has its own code, and it will show up

lol ECU is missing one of its 2 most important inputs. maybe thats why its running like dogsh1t Image

the pulleys prolly werent needed, but they are 11 years old, it wouldnt hurt to change them. but it would hurt paying a shop to do that.

cam sensor on a 3.8 is on the front of the engine, in the hole where the distributor used to be at. yours is a coil packs distributorless, so theres no disty, the hole for the CPS is where the disty is on any smallblock ford. front and center of the intake. manifold.

and u know whats gayer than aids. i dunno how far the TB sticks out over the front of the engine, but just from the mental image im drawing in my head from what ive seem on 3.8 mustangs with windstar intakes, looks like the upper intake is gonna have to come off to get to the cam sensor.

sux to be your dad.

wait NVM, you dont need to pull the intake. thats only if your pulling the whole sensor and the shaft out. you just need the sensor part, its about the size of a bottle cap, looks like 2 allens holding it on.
