this could get interesting. just give us the story of your first car, or all the cars that you owned

for me, it all started out with a 94 ford tempo. hand me down. slow. 4 banger. 3spd slush. my mom signed over the title as my high school graduation gift.
around april of my senior year my stepbrother got a chrysler company 08 avenger that he drove for a year, so i started driving the 90 Acura legend. old, rusbucket, but a 2.7 v6 and a 5spd. i basically doubled my horsepower. that was my 1st stick car. i drove the sh1t out of it, held up very nice for 200k miles. that thing saw redline way too often for a 200k mile engine, then hondas run forever, thats no bullsh1t

over the summer i fixed up the tempo, did some minor and major car work for other people. sold the tempo in late july for 1200, has 500 from working on cars, found my 93 probe in michigan. bought her on august 2nd for 1200 dollars.
august 2nd, 2007 - march 21st, 2008. 8 months of ear to ear smile every drive, she was an awesome car, and as we know, i crashed her cuz im retarded.

the very next day i bought my current 95 probe GT for 900, and over the following week i swapped in my 93s 5 speed. she feels calmer than my 93 did (the 93 had an attitude, cant really put it in words, but you could feel it) that 95 doesnt have, but the 95 pulls harder.

so to sum it up:
94 ford tempo - sold
90 acura legend - parked at the old house, a backup/emergency car
93 probe GT - RIP
95 probe GT - current car

im looking into getting a light truck like a ranger or a s10 or someting along the lines of that for a winter beater, the 95s body is very clean, much cleaner than my 93 was, i dont want to rust her up in the winter. and having a pickup is so convenient. i might end up spending a part of my fall semester leftover loan return on the truck.

My first car was a 1990 Mercury Cougar. Five days later, some bimbo blew through a stop sign and totaled her. RIP 1998
My second car was a 1983 RX-7 that never ran after the day we bought it (5 speed too). RIP 1998
My third car was after several years of bumming rides (and going to school), a 1996 Chevy Beretta. 2002 - present
My current car is a 2007 Scion tC. 2006 - present

Many moons ago I had a 1990 rusted Ford Taurus station wagon. WHat a piece it was... It broke down on me every Friday religiously. Hated that thing.

My first car was a blue 1984 Chevrolet Cavalier, I think the R10 package or something. Had an AM radio only (quickly fixed that). Low mileage, hand me down. It wasn't a bad car, but wasn't very cool or much fun. Also, I had to disconnect the torque convertor clutch solenoid, thanks to it locking when too hot and subsequently stalling the car at stops until it unlocked. Yeah, I had an automatic that stalled. Drove that for a while and then jumped on the deal for my EP3.

The first cars I drove belonged to my grandpa. Went something like this..

2000 Toyota Camry XLE (beautiful. V6, leather, all the options. this one i totaled 2 years into driving. its name was Petey.)
1984/83 Superior (if i recall. i had this gorgeous hearse a total of 3 days when i was 17, but my grandma found out & i gave it back. named it Omen.)
1992 Oldsmobile wagon. (a beast. i LOVED this car, we bought it brand new and had it forever, I named it Alfalfa. rear-ended someone in it and after it was fixed I didn't drive it.)
1997 Lincoln Continental (again, all leather, great car, grandpa got all the options. the VERY first time I drove this car it overheated and stranded me on the highway. i had no idea that the CEL that was on for 6 months had been a slow coolant leak - not my fault, but i never touched the car again. didn't like this car much, so named it Howard.)
1998 Toyota Corolla CE (sharp little black car, my grandpa bought this -for me-, and it got me from Point A to Point B so I was happy. this one got smashed by a semi truck as i drive back from a convention. named it Lizzy Borden.)
1990 Buick Superior - current. <3 this car, but selling it cause I can't afford to keep it. s'name is Wraith.
2002 Mazda Protege5 - just bought this. first manual tranny car. no name yet. thinking of P Drizzle.. cause it's pee colored.

Cars: NO CAR RIGHT NOW
Learned to drive on these cars:

1998 Ford Windstar GL 3.8L - Learned to drive on, still the family car so I drive it occasionally.
1996 Honda Civic DX - Uncle's car, learned to drive manual on.

Own this car:

1992 Mazda MX-3 RS

First car, bought on July 2, 2007. Passed first driving test in April, needed job before parents would get me a car. Got job, relied on family car to get to work, it was problematic because usually they needed the car as well. So I started off looking at 240SX's, it didn't go too well since my dad thought they were too expensive. He was looking at Integra's. He suggested MX-3 to me as an alternative, I was immediately put off by FWD but liked the V6. Looked at one but was way overpriced.

Went to Vancouver over the long weekend, looked at quite a few MX-3's, most were run down or overpriced. Almost gave up looking, was just browsing used car lots for anything good in the end. Went to this car lot, and the salesman directed us to a fifth gen Civic hatch, of course I hated it. It was way overpriced. While he was showing it off, a car caught the corner of my eye, and I recognized it to be an MX-3. So I went over and took a look. Price on the windshield was $3999 and it was in very nice condition. Checked it out, test drove it, was very nice but slightly underpowered, no V6.

Next day we were going to go back so I had to decide quickly. It was either this or an $8000 Integra, slightly modified, in better condition than the MX-3, with Altezza tails. I didn't like the Integra, I thought it was overpriced. And I would rather have a car in good condition and cheap over anything else, so I went for the MX-3. When I got it I had in mind that it was a temporary car on my way to getting a 240SX (and now, as I discovered, an MR2). But it's definitely grown on me.

The driving school car I learnt in was a 1.4 litre Polo. I drove my parents cars until I got my own when I went to university.

My first car was a 1996 Peugeot 106 1.1 litre Escapde. I loved that car and it went to university with me and all around Europe. When I was in Germany I could get 110mph out of it. I kept it for 8 years and had it from new.

Yes, it was as slow as a lawnmower  . I've never driven anything as slow as that, and to top it off, with the 3-speed auto it'd be at 4500 rpms at like 65 mph. I only got like 20 mpg from the thing.

I did like that car a lot though. It was my 1st car so I just wanted transportation and to drive on my own. It was also a convertible (not that you'd ever want to be seen driving it) and it had 4WD. If that car was 5-speed I would probably still have it today.

I didn't get my car until the beginning of my senior year in high school (late 2003). Before then I'd sometimes drive my Dad around in his car, and I had to walk to school. I would've taken a riding lawnmower if I could stop walking everyday.

Right after winter break in my senior year I got my second car, a 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT. It was almost the same as the 1988 Fiero GT I have now, except it was 3-speed auto, the interior was grey cloth, and it only had 34,000 miles on it when I got it (Jan 2004). That was when I learned how awesome it was to have more power, and what it was like to drive a good looking sports car. For the last part of my senior year of high school, I barely drove the '89 Sidekick and I mostly drove the '88 Fiero. Except on days it rained.

July 2004 I sold the Sidekick to my Dad to make a down payment on my 2000 Camaro Z28. It had a 5.7L LS1 V8 and a 4-speed automatic. My Dad still has the Sidekick, apparently he likes driving around with the top down on it.

November 2005 I bought my 4th car, my 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE 4-speed. For most of 2005 I had craved a manual and I finally got 1. That's when I learned to drive stick. A few months later I sold the Camaro because I honestly got bored of the V8 with the automatic. I didn't have the time or money to swap a 6-speed into the Camaro.

I bought my 5th car August of last year. I also sold my 1988 Fiero GT with the automatic to get this 5th car, my 1988 Fiero GT 5-speed.
