I was really surprised that the Dodge Charger/Magnum SRT-8s were auto only. American Muscle - with a slush. :(

As for the Lexus IS-F, I think they'll change their minds about throwing the 8-speed auto in there. From what I've heard in some reviews (namely Edmunds), drivers have to deal with a lot of gear hunting in full auto mode, and a general un-sporty feel even when using the paddles. IIRC, it's just a regular automatic with a TC, instead of a DSG/SMG-like setup.

Any sports car should be manual only.

MR2, if you all don't know that already.

I saw this video that saddened me how this particular MR2 was rusting away without potential... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK6mughvEfY

MR2 definitely. All smallish sports cars should only be available with a manual transmission. Too many to name.

And believe it or not the majority of Corvettes sold are automatics. Also, modified automatic Corvettes are faster than automatic modified manual Corvettes. Long explanation, but look up stall converters.

Big luxury cars shouldn't be made with manual only. They wouldn't sell that way. What I really like though is how the Pontiac G8 (Vauxhall VXR) is going to be available with a 6-speed manual.

In my last Road & Track issue, there was a reader letter that said:
stupid reader wrote:I like the Dodge Viper, but why doesn't Dodge offer a Tiptronic transmission option? Porsche and Chevy have already done it. Tiptronics have sold many Corvettes. So why not the Viper? It's a pity it only comes in manual

Uhh, what? No, its to filter out the geriatric fools who would probably have a heart attack once they realize what 315 size tires and 10 cylinders of insane American muscle can do
335 tires...

miata's were sold with almost all manuals. The autos in the NA and NB generatoins are very rare. Now they're all sold with damn paddle shifters, but I digress.

Oh yes... the horror of the "chick car". What the hell is a girl (not sexist) who will be chatting on the phone and possibly texting while driving (speaking from experience) :o be doing with a sports car?
