Stick Shift Camper

Post by Bill B »

I usually don't post this type of thing, but saw a Honda Element with the E-Camper conversion for sale over at the Element forum. Most campers are automatics, but this one has the 5-speed stick. Classified ad and presentation were nicely done. Price might seem high, but they are popular, so they will probably get close to what they are asking.

It's an aesthetically pleasing presentation, I'll grant, but...

[*] The site completely breaks with scripts turned off. Unforgivable when you're trying to sell something (but common).
[*] Reads like a novel or a blog, not an ad...Really wordy and you have to read it all (including mouseovers on the pictures) to figure out all the particulars.
[*] A LOT of (very nice, granted) pictures interspersed, making the writing style even more exasperating.
[*] It would be 29 pages printed and you don't get the price until you get to the bottom, if you even get that far.
[*] He never actually mentions what year it is. Essential information for evaluating the fairness of the price.

Even though it was built with blogging tools, it's not a blog...It's an ad. Remember the audience and what they want. There's a reason car classifieds are structured the way they are. You have to keep the presentation from getting in the way of the information you need to convey.
