Yes, the Presidential Election. Determined by SS of course .
No flamewar please, in fact I'm only really interested in the poll results.

Obama it is. I'll give my precise political views here when I'm more sober.

Obama. I've only seen like 1 speech from him but it seems like he's a fighter for the people.

Re: McCain or Obama
i'm gonna start cracking down on "hot button" topics that get out of hand, so keep this civil.
i'm happy to see that, as of now at least, Obama is in the lead.
McCain (and especially Palin (or should i say who? huh? Alaska?)) is 4 more years of Bush. how wonderful that would be.

Re: McCain or Obama
As hot as Sarah Palin is (for a politician...hell for a normal woman!), I have to say I'd rather see Obama in there instead. Especially after he used a common saying (put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig) and the news reporters clucked for days about it being directed toward Mrs. Palin. It's nice to see a politician who isn't afraid of everything he says, but at least can say it without making up new words or grammaticimal structurates like Dubya.

Re: McCain or Obama
You know, we can debate the various policy issues all damn day, but it doesn't matter.
I'm voting for Obama not because I agree with his politics, but because I know that John McCain is another George Bush. The fact that he hasn't been laughed out of this election exactly because of that astounds me. You can say a lot negative about Barack Obama, but if you've got two functioning brain cells to rub together, it ought to be obvious that he's less of a warmongering, ignorant weasel than McCain is.
You know what REALLY bothers me though? It shouldn't matter who gets the Presidency. The President's powers are so limited that he shouldn't really be able to do anything. (George Bush's executive expansion notwithstanding) The people who actually have the authority to get things done are the members of Congress. You want change, pay attention to the views of your senators and representatives.
You know what the incumbency re-election rate is for Congressmen? Shocking, that's what it is. Something like 96%. You want to see change, THAT's the election to worry about your vote in. You can complain about Bush all you want, but it's Congress that's let his administration get away with--literally--murder, time and again.

Re: McCain or Obama
Every time I read the constitution, I am surprised at how little explicitly stated power the President has. However in real life, they can basically set up the executive branch and Cabinet, and various agencies, plus the veto power goes quite a ways to influencing what Congress can and can't do.

Re: McCain or Obama
The mere fact that we have to consider what to do in the event of our presidential candidate dying before the election is a disturbing prospect, honestly if McCain was to die prior to the election what would the RNC do, surely they can't expect Sarah Palin to run as a candidate for the leadership of the free world. I was a supporter of Mitt Romney, and even Huckabee to a small extent would like to see either of them in the place of McCain. Honestly I want Obama to win, but you have to realize what the average American citizen sees is a white man and a black man, you can deny it all you want, people in general still have an underlying racial bias. Research has shown that just the mere face of the candidate has a discernible effect on the outcome of the election, they say that if Kerry had a better face he would have beaten Bush in the 2004 election, no joke.
Simply put, just having this discussion, about not if McCain is going to die, but who will be replacing him should make us question what the RNC was thinking in choosing McCain as their candidate.
