Learned something new

My downshifts are pretty slow, as I'll:

clutch in
downshift
blip throttle
clutch out

all in sequence.

I just watched this video and I realized that I could be blipping the throttle much earlier - simultaneous with the clutch being disengaged.

At 3m30s mark (easier to see if you slow video to 1/4 speed), he downshifts and he's finished blipping the throttle even before he's finished moving the shifter. Eureka moment for me! :o

Yup, we describe things in discrete steps because that's the only way to describe them and most people learn best starting that way, but in reality most of the time steps overlap and blend, sometimes more than two can overlap at the same time even.
