Wait, so you went from a broken cheap Napa part to bidding on that same part on ebay? I hope it's a higher quality partbk7794 wrote:So today I bid on one on eBay. I will have to see if I will win.

It's a genuine part. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261031455392?it ... 500wt_1413Squint wrote:Wait, so you went from a broken cheap Napa part to bidding on that same part on ebay? I hope it's a higher quality partbk7794 wrote:So today I bid on one on eBay. I will have to see if I will win.
I actually have no idea what is in the napa distributor. Probably some garbage. Hope the heatsink comes off of it.
I also hope this fixes the problem. It is almost undriveable now.
Also shh don't tell anybody.

Re: Need help solving an intermittent miss
Now I fixed it, I am 70% sure of it now, one of the connectors connecting the igniter to the wire harness was loose, I can also see like burn marks where it must have shorted out. Tightened that connector up and replaced the igniter anyways because it was some cheap Taiwanese crap and it started and ran great. Didn't get any bucking and I felt like I had all 70WHP again. I love it!
Thanks for all your help!

Re: Need help solving an intermittent miss
The scorch marks would be from arcing where the connection was almost in place, more likely than from shorting.
Cars go to rest in the junkyard because of problems like that, which is why I'm always on about engine longevity being quite sufficient when people talk about oil changes or diesel longevity.
Anyway I'm glad you got it figured out. I wish I had been more help...maybe if I'd read all of those diagnostic books I keep posting instead of just planning to read later...

Hey you were a help, helped me rule out wastes of money on things it possibly couldn't have been. That is true I never thought of the barely making contact.theholycow wrote:The scorch marks would be from arcing where the connection was almost in place, more likely than from shorting.

I just wish I could have saved 80 bucks but ohwell, 40 bucks for a problem that needed to be addressed, and another 40 bucks for this, atleast I didn't pay full price, 105 bucks.

Re: Need help solving an intermittent miss
Just another update, car is running great! Pulled up a hill that I would usually be falling behind on and it pulled up it nice. Also no missing. I consider this a success!
