being tossed in the wind
so
driving my car at 60, 65, 70, 75 miles/hour with NO wind makes it feel like i'm being tossed in the wind.
drew SAYS he's tightened my lugs; imma take it to belle tire and have them check my lugs...cuz as long as i don't see him check the lugs, i don't know if they were done.
yeah, i could check them myself...except...1) tire iron is in his trunk and 2) i'm not strong enough
if its not the lugs, what could it be?

Re: being tossed in the wind
Mushy sidewalls? Softer sidewalls might make your car sway too much at higher speeds.

Re: being tossed in the wind
Huge sidewalls and/or old tires can be squishy and allow for a ton of flex. Low profile performance tires FTW
A car that weighs nothing means even slight wind (never mind the 60+mph wind of driving) will be felt.
Box on wheels aerodynamics makes for odd wind patterns.
Worn front suspension/steering components. Jack it up and check the tie rods, ball joins, etc.

Re: being tossed in the wind
If your lugs are loose enough to make driving feel like that then you don't need a lug wrench, you will be able to spin them with your fingers...and you would have lost a wheel by now...and your car would look funny because the wheels would sit at weird angles. It would be extremely obvious and you probably would have crashed.
Agree with previous posts: Tire pressure (should be visibly bad if it feels like that, though); worn/broken suspension components (steering stuff like tie rods and such; wheel hubs/bearings; etc).
Other ideas: Alignment bad; pavement screwed up from winter; black ice.
Disagree: Huge/mushy sidewalls/old tires, light car, box on wheels - those things haven't changed and you already know how your car feels or else you wouldn't be posting this unless you haven't driven it in months but drove something else.

I agree, check pressure and suspension/steering components.

Re: being tossed in the wind
You're gonna wanna check the tire pressure when they're cold, as I'm sure you already know.

Re: being tossed in the wind
If the symptom is caused by low tire pressure, it would be caused by severely low tire pressure...hot or cold wouldn't matter and you probably wouldn't even need a tire gauge.

Hit any potholes or what not recently?
My bet is on suspension components and/or toe settings. Of course, the later could very well be the result of the former being worn or damaged.

Re: being tossed in the wind
Wouldn't surprise me if potholes messed something up. They're terrible this year.
