hard to puch into gear

Synchros shot? Weird noises while shifting? Not sure what needs to be replaced?

so is everything fixed? that was it?

what he meant by checking the shift gate was normally (if everything is working correctly) you should be able to not push to the left or right at all and push it straight up into 3rd, or straight down into 4th. if you need to push it left or right to get it into the 3rd or 4th gear gate, then it is mis-aligned. and he didn't mean check it in neutral. usually the return springs in neutral are weaker when you pull it towards you and stronger when you push it away from you, so that you don't accidentally push it into reverse while you drive. and the return spring for returning it from the 1st\2nd gear plane back into the 3rd\4th gear plane is also usually weaker over time because the majority of the time you drive your going to be in gears 1-4, so you don't normally touch the return spring to return it from 5th\reverse gear plane back into 3rd\4th gear plane. also when you park you usually leave it in 1st which causes the spring to stay expanded, causing its memory to change and weaken
