OH GOD my car won't start

Synchros shot? Weird noises while shifting? Not sure what needs to be replaced?

OH GOD my car won't start

Post by Leedeth »

WTF my car won't start. Where do I start to diagnose this problem?

I had it running 2 weeks to a month ago. Now it just cranks and cranks, it won't start!

If it keeps cranking, its not the battery.

Air, Spark, Fuel

Is your fuel pump priming? Are you getting air or spark? Check these.

I can't legally park on the side of the street at night.

I got that part fixed though. I got my parents to help me roll the car back up my driveway.

There's an ignition wire that came loose, from the distributor to who knows where, I can't find it, and my dad can't either.

He's giving me all sorts of shit for trying to fix my car, he's like why'd you roll your car down when you can't even get it back up. Fukktard.

I want to smash stuff.

First off, get a service manual, or hit up a Firebird forum, or post some pics or something.

Second, tell him to go f**k himself in the ass... with a spoon... a dull, nasty, "hasn't been used in ages but still has food on it" spoon... That's about 6x12x3 in diameter.

If it "cranks and cranks", what would push starting accomplish? paul34 was joking and you not only took it seriously, but actually got your car marooned out on the street. Push starting (or "bump starting" as it may be more commonly called) is for when it won't crank.

Then you posted the actual problem...and later posted that you've figured out the problem (as if that was news) and it was exactly what you had already posted. Did you think it would start with that wire disconnected?

It's all just jesty.

Well I didn't know that. When I get my car back on the road I'm going to test this out on a hill, with the ignition wire connected and disconnected, just to test it out.

I was expecting serious answers since I did post it in the parts and problems section.
