clutch squishes in humidity
clutch squishes in humidity
I recently was given an old 96 del sol in very good condition. However, I have noticed in rainy or humid weather, the clutch makes a squishy noise. When the weather dries up the noise goes away. Harmless?

Re: clutch squishes in humidity
my truck is notorious for this. im not exactly sure if its because the clutch is new and not entirely worn in (i baby the hell out of it) or because of the material of the clutch but it seems as though in my truck it acts like that in colder weather but once it heats up it seems fine again.
try driving around for awhile to get the clutch to operating temperatures and see if the feeling goes away. maybe 20-30 minutes of driving?

Are you sure it's not your shoe sole squeaking against the rubber pedal cover?

Is it me or do our cars' rubber pedal cover squeak like a castrated swine when the weather is wet? Happens with any shoe that I wear.theholycow wrote:Are you sure it's not your shoe sole squeaking against the rubber pedal cover?

I'm a little late to this thread, but oh well.
Many cars do this, mine included. It's nothing to be worried about.

A quick peek through the dust boot just to confirm the clutch release fork is intact is not a bad idea (yes, they can break), just do not spray anything inside the clutch housing--The disc may become contaminated.
The sound should not be a cause for concern. Next time the trans. is down, smear some grease on the pivot stud and clutch fork where they join.
