Re: Shifter Knob and Boot
If it's the OEM knob on a Dodge Spirit, you need to slide the boot down off the knob, then place a small "Minus" screwdriver tip under each of the retainer legs to pry them out past the ends of the rollpin that is stuck through the lever and finally grip the top of the knob and pull upward with a slight alternating twisting motion. If you're lucky, it won't come flying up so fast that you slug yourself in the mouth with it. It's that simple!

I know what you mean. I went a number of years with my personal vehicles being slushboxes. Thank heavens I was able to satisfy my addiction to shifting-by-numbers every day at work.

Re: Shifter Knob and Boot
Get a repair manual, or ask Matt. He's probably wound up doing that or knows how it's held on. It's most likely one of two things:wannabe wrote:hand made wooden one from you.... (maybe it only makes sense to me...whouldn't be the first time)
i haven't a clue how to even get mine off...i don't want to break it...
A screw on knob (God, I'm going to regret ever saying that... )
or it's held on with a clip. Needle nose pliers, elbow grease, and a few choice obscenities should remove the clip.
Still, I'd say ask Matt.

Most all Toyotas use screw-on knobs for their Amish shifters. Righty-Tighty & Lefty-Loosey are all you have to know.
