I like the idea (THC) of rolling onto planks.
For oil changes I don't bother with jacks or ramps, I just drive onto a couple layers of planks. I have short sections of 2x8, 2x10, and 2x12, and I put two layers (staggered so the tires only climb one layer at a time) under all four wheels. That gives my VW and my Buick plenty of clearance to work comfortably under the car (rather than pretending I'm Buzz Lightyear).
Get it up on the planks, chock the wheels, apply the park brake, leave it in 1st or Reverse and ewer goodyear go.
