Paint!

Post by Swimmerboy »

Where is the best place to buy auto paint from and what paint is the best to use? The reason i am asking is a friends dad does professional auto painting and said he'd paint my car for the price of paint. So, where and what are the best places/best paint to use? Oh and i want YELLOW by the way!

-Thanks,

Brian

Did he know when he made that offer that you wanted to do a dramatic color change? It's much more difficult and expensive to get good results with a color change, especially a dramatic one.

Who's doing the prepwork? That's the real money sucker in a paint job. Without good prepwork, it'll be a shitty paintjob.

PPG is what my dad used to paint his motorcycle a while ago. Turned out really nice.

And lucky you for being able to repaint your car. I need some bodywork and a new coat. :(

I think you are too young for plastic surgery and for a coat I recommend a department store.

Curse this time change, this is what my brain functions like when I get up at the equivalent of 5:30.

If I get that Jaguar and restore that to drivable condition (IE tires, and fluids change), then I can rip the trim and glass out of the Alfa and paint it myself. There's also a patch near the trunk lid that needs to be cut out and replaced, and a wrinkly patch near the front parking lamp where dads' Goldwing fell on it.
