Honda "Service" Light - How to disable after oil change?

Post by La Porta »

Hey guys, a little O/T, but on my 98 Honda Accord, I want to start changing the oil myself. The thing is, after a set interval, it "alerts" me on my dash light that the engine needs service soon. I am wondering, is there an easy way to reset this thing if I change the oil myself?
Before you get any ideas, i'm from NY...I don't have a southern accent.

This should probably go in the parts and problems forum, but both my parents have Accords so I can help you out.

1) Turn they key to the II position
2) Turn the key to the off position, and push and hold in the odometer reset button
3) Turn they key back to the II position, while still holding the button.
4) After about 10-15 seconds, the light should go off.

This should work

Hey, thanks, I appreciate it. Wasn't sure where to put it. I'll try it out when I get around to the change!
